CorSport: Probable XIs for Milan vs. Atalanta – two big dilemmas for Pioli to decide on

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are ready to take on Lombardy rivals Atalanta at San Siro tomorrow, and there are two selection dilemmas for Stefano Pioli to resolve.

According to il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive), the Milan boss will first have to decide whether to risk Simon Kjaer in defence – who is struggling from some back pain – or play Pierre Kalulu alongside Mateo Musacchio.

Both Ante Rebic and Rafael Leao are back, so Pioli will have to decide which of the two will start in the role of left wing, with next Tuesday’s Coppa Italia game against Inter on his mind.

Alexis Saelemaekers and Alessio Romagnoli will not be available because the former was sent off against Cagliari and the latter has accumulated too many yellow cards. Meanwhile, Hakan Calhanoglu is still isolating due to COVID-19, but Theo Hernandez and Rade Krunic are back.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): G. Donnarumma; Calabria, Kalulu, Musacchio, Hernandez; Tonali, Kessie; Castillejo, Diaz, Leao; Ibrahimovic.

Atalanta will arrive at San Siro experiencing a difficult moment having had two disappointing draws against Genoa and Udinese in their last two games. Gasperini chose to rotate in midweek so as to be able to field the best team tomorrow at San Siro.

Probable Atalanta XI (3-4-1-2): Gollini; Toloi, Romero, Djimsiti; Hateboer, De Roon, Freuler, Gosens; Pessina; Ilicic, Zapata.
