Costacurta names the Milan youth sector star who reminds him of Foden

AC Milan legend Alessandro Costacurta has picked out one of the players in the youth sector as being one to watch for the future, comparing him with Phil Foden.

Costacurta spoke in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport about the current moment that Milan find themselves in after a disappointing defeat against their city rivals in Europe, but he was also asked if there are a couple of Italian talents he has his eye on.

“Francesco Pio Esposito, from Inter’s 2005-class, is very interesting. He knows how to play with his front and back to goal, he shields the ball well, distributes. And Mattia Liberali, 2007 class from Milan. He’s young, but he reminds me of Foden,” he said.

Liberali has been highlighted by avid watchers of the youth sector such as ScoutCalcio as being a player with the potential to become something very special in the years to come.

He has been picked out for his explosive acceleration and pace, his dribbling which is particularly good in tight spaces but also at full speed, his vision, passing and ability to withstand the press thanks to his composure, control and his first touch.
