The editor of Sportitalia, Michele Criscitiello, believes that AC Milan leadership must resolve their issues with the Curva Sud soon.
There were more than 71,000 fans at San Siro for the first game of the 2025-26 season between Milan and Bari, a game that saw the Rossoneri win 2-0 to book their place in the last 16 of the Coppa Italia.

However, the atmosphere has been criticised by the media, with one report even likening the stadium to being a ‘silent church’. The reason for this is in large part due to the absence of the Curva Sud.
A ‘very serious’ problem
The Prosecutor’s Office’s orders and certain decisions by the club itself have meant that swathes of fans who occupy the Secondo Anello Blu have been ‘blacklisted’ and therefore cannot attend. Michele Criscitiello spoke live on Sportitalia, with an impassioned plea.
“Milan have a problem. You can buy all the players you want, but if Milan – or even Inter, I don’t know – doesn’t resolve the Curva issue, it’s a very serious problem. Milan are managing the situation very badly, in my opinion, because when you go from too much to nothing, something is wrong.
“First, cages were opened for the management of the Ultras and the Curva: there was no control. Then the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office investigated, and now Milan are waging war on the Curva.
“Those who protested at Casa Milan are no longer allowed in, there are no warnings, but season tickets and tickets are blocked for the Curva’s protagonists and those close to them: this is a problem.
“Milan also have to be a little selfish and intelligent, just like Inter. But I’m not judging Inter’s situation because yesterday I saw Milan-Bari. If you think of playing Milan-Bari in an acoustic desert, in total silence, then Milan-Bari, on August 17th, is fine. But Milan-Inter, Milan-Juve, Milan-Napoli, Milan-Cremonese on Saturday…
“The ultras, or rather the Curva, are crucial to a football team. They’re crucial to a club, because they control the entire stadium’s support. This doesn’t mean you should succumb to blackmail or compromise, absolutely not. You have to set guidelines, but you need the Curva!

“Either you manage it and don’t suffer from it, but you can’t kick them out. Because on Sunday at San Siro, Milan would have been unthinkable without fans. And now that the season is starting, Milan can make all the signings they want, but if the fans aren’t among those signings, you’ve lost everything.
“And what I was reading today… In the Curva, there were people wearing PSG jerseys, people wearing Barcelona jerseys, people wearing Real Madrid jerseys. It can’t be football for tourists; it has to be football for Milan fans. You can’t go (to the Curva) wearing another team’s shirt.
“This doesn’t mean delinquency, it means order, rigor, and discipline for your team. Otherwise, Milan will become nobody’s son. This is a problem the management must solve, not tomorrow, not Saturday, but yesterday!”

Fully agree with Criscitello here. Crazy. No curva, no reason to go to San Siro. Imagine seeing a PSG shirt in the curva. Wow, truly truly sickening.
That’s probably the future. This ownership has no affinity for any tradition that isn’t lucrative. Fans are consumers, they can be anywhere in the world. There will always be locals and tourists to fill the stadium, especially a new one with probably 30% of VIP suites. There is already a VIP experience at San Siro where you sit close to the pitch, NBA style, for stars. La Curva is mostly nuisance. They won’t side with the 99% of la Curva that aren’t going to the stadium to get involved in criminal activities but to support their beloved football team and create that legendary atmosphere. And we know the bankers’ mindset of “if you’re not with me you’re against me” and they probably didn’t enjoy the protests last season in the stadium and in front of Casa Milan.
Curva won’t weed itself of any criminal enterprise or individuals. So I’m not even sure what Milan can do to “clean” them up. It almost feels like you have to accept them as is or not at all, which is what they are currently doing …

Curva brings an entirely different atmosphere to the game. Without it you basically have quiet Baseball matches played in the States…
I will not call you a bad fan like the other guy. I just hope you are not the guy with a PSG shirt standing in curva :). Not sure if you have been to San Siro or not, but I can only give my opinion.
To me, football has always been secondary when visiting San Siro. I go to see the people and sing what I can with the curva (and for the panini outside). I can watch the game with a better view at home in my couch.
So, stripping away curva with Tifo, Singing, Choreography… well. Forget it.
No Curva Sud does not mean that those seats won’t be sold to Milan fans.

Wall Street greaseball and his gang of clowns are butthurt because of the protests against them. They don’t really care about tradition (it’s obvious by now) and they’re willing to destroy it for the sake of their fragile egos. Hope it will be counter effective and will come back to bite them. Just as it did with every decision they’ve made these past two seasons. Can’t wait for the derbies on San Siro.

This explains everything. The management is basically banning and shuting down everyone who doesn’t agrees with them.
What they don’t understand is that the reason why this club even has so much fans world wide is cause of tradition an history. No one started to support Milan cause they were 8th place last year etc. Changing to tourist supporters who might come to visit Milano once or twice and buy a ticket to watch a game in the meantime is bad long term strategy. Cause even those tourists buy ticket cause of the traditional weight that a club like Milan caries. You remove that not even tourists will be interested to attend games. However i don’t think Red Bird is interested about this club long term, they want to get as much profit as posible while they are here and avoid criticism and bad publicity which might affect their profit. In the end we will be left to deal with the mess.

From management point of view, they want to replace the Curva with tourists just because the tourists will spend more on matchdays than the ultras.

The truth is always in the middle. Curva has a lot of normal families and folks that just want to come and see the games. But the minority of them who are criminals and try to cash in ruin it for everyone else.
Milan has been closing its eyes and ignoring the issue long enough but now instead of gradually addressing it and probably bringing Galliani in to figure it out, they are wiping them all out of the stadium …
