AC Milan are back to six points away from the top four and thus some hopes have been slightly reignited, but they will have to improve in one key area.
As Corriere dello Sport write this morning, Milan go into the international break with the knowledge that they can still chase fourth place, which would guarantee a place in the Champions League.
The Rossoneri are coming off two consecutive victories in the league and upon returning from the break they will have to try to do something that they have never been able to achieve this season: find consistency.
Only in this way can the UCL – currently six points away and with five teams to overtake – get closer. They also need some help in the form of their rivals dropping points, something which has happened but Milan have often failed to take advantage of.
The fixture list is not exactly comforting, either. In the last nine rounds, Milan will face five of the top eight teams in the league, teams against which they did not beat in the first half of the season barring one occasion.
For the moment, in matches against the top eight, Milan have only managed a win in the first derby. The likes of Napoli, Fiorentina, Atalanta, Roma and Bologna are to come, so much will depend on Sergio Conceicao’s ability to get results against direct competitors.

Atalanta, Bologna, Fiorentina are all at home, which hopefully can be an advantage and we can get something out of it. Napoli away, we hope Napoli is struggling to give us an edge. Roma away, given how well Roma are doing itll be tough.
However, if Milan keep playing how they have been, even a home advantage wont give them an edge vs these top 8 sides. We need to come back stronger, consistent, and hungry and then hopefully, we can get results our way
I don’t believe they can do it. Conceição doesn’t even know which 2 defenders are his best pairing.
In my opinion it should be Thiaw and Tomori. Also Conceição needs to decided on his 2 midfield pivot. Which in my opinion should be Fofana and Bondo.
Also, Tammy Abraham should start over Gimenez. The problem is Gimenez needs time to adapt to the league and we can’t experiment with that now.
Abraham should lead the line with Leao, Pulisic and Reinjders in support.
Until Conceição fixes that and his suicidal high line we will also have to play from behind.
The UCL dream for the next season is over by now.
If it were to be, it will depend a lot on the results of our direct opponents for the UCL spot and our capability not to drop points.
And they are more consistent than we are.
And we have a double clash with Inter, a lot of energy consuming encounters.
May be we should prepare for the next season…
Also an overhaul in the management, an Italian identity ( core) of the squad, an Italian coach with all do respect for others…
At least against Como they played in red & black jerseys.
