Dalot reflects on what went wrong against Lille: “We made mistakes that we don’t usually make”

Full-back Diogo Dalot believes AC Milan conceded goals they do not normally concede during Thursday night’s 3-0 defeat to Lille.

Milan’s 24-game unbeaten run came to an end in dismal fashion on Thursday night as they were comfortably beaten 3-0 by Lille.

Lille’s unbeaten start to the Ligue 1 season should have raised some alarm bells, but it was the Yusuf Yazici show at San Siro as the Turkish forward scored a fantastic hat-trick.

He sent his side in a goal up at the break after firing home from the penalty spot, and put them out of sight in the second half with two exceptional shots from outside the area.

Dalot was interviewed by Sky Italia after the game, with his comments transcribed by MilanNews and translated below.

On the match: “We are disappointed, we started well in terms of ball possession, we could have played more calmly, but we made mistakes that we don’t usually make, the passing is too heavy.

“We prepared well for the match, we were confident, but unfortunately anything can happen in football, now we have to recover and react immediately.”

On Pioli: “He tells us to give everything, we tried to the end but we conceded goals that we usually don’t concede, we could have been more aggressive, but now we have the opportunity to react immediately.”
