AC Milan are hoping to become one of the elite clubs in Europe once again and they have a spending campaign in mind to match that.
According to our colleagues at SempreMilan.it, Investcorp know that big-name signings are needed to bolster a Milan squad that – by natural order of progression – will have to fight to win the Champions League in the coming years.
We are proceeding swiftly towards the definition of the transfer of ownership, one which could be postponed by a few days due to normal delays in the checks between the two parties, especially given that there is a €1.1bn operation at stake.
Investcorp’s medium-long term business plan has emerged and the Middle Eastern fund intend to keep Milan for a long time (at least 10 years) with the aim of making it one of the top 10 clubs in Europe by reducing the gap to English and Spanish clubs.
It will be necessary to invest in the market and raise the level of the squad (and the subsequently the brand) in order to make Milan a club with great economic power.
It is with that context that the name of Darwin Nunez has emerged. The Benfica star is having an excellent season with 33 goals in all competitions, leading to a valuation of €70m which is a monstrous figure and considered ‘unattainable’ under Elliott Management but which could soon be given serious thought to.
Nunez is now represented by agent Jorge Mendes who has an eye on the situation unfolding at Milan with interest, especially given he has already had business relations with Investcorp in the past.
If we could only sign one player this summer, Darwin should be it. That is how crucial a signing he would be 🔥

Funny how some people here think it’s a wonderful idea to splash out 70M€ on one single player as that would suddenly solve everything.
Just look at the most expensive players Milan has bought in the recent years and look where they got us and where they are now. Bacca, Piatek, Caldara, A.Silva, L.Paqueta & Bonucci.
Yeah. Money well spent. So let’s pay TWICE AS MUCH for a single player than we did on Bonucci. That will bring lots and lots of trophies, right?!
Giroud, Ibra, Origi & Belotti. Milan will be fine with them for the next season and then Ibra will be replaced by someone else. And then Giroud out the following year.
The main issue is feeding the strikers. Not the strikers themselves.
Milan has been a small club for so long that even our dreams became small.
Ibra should have retired last summer, Giro should probably retire this one, Origi has been a substitute for most of his career, Belotti craps himself as soon as there is any kind of pressure to produce on.
We finally have a chance to do a decent mercato and we’re gonna settle for retirement home candidates, mediocrities and professional bench warmers.
We need everything, trequartista x 2, RW x 2, at least one clinical striker that is not grandpa and great grandpa.
We need everything BUT the 70M€ striker. Like you said, we need trequartista (or two) and 2-3 wingers. If you want quality players then there’s no money left for a star striker. That’s why Origi & Belotti & the current ones suffice. There is really zero sense in buying a 70M€ striker while the main issue is feeding the striker.

Nunez or even Lewy can do nothing if behind him is player like Brahim Diaz or Messias
Junior will return to Crotone , while brahim maybe return to Real Madrid next season. Of course AC Milan will signing new RW and AMF next season. But if they can sign Darwin Nunez too , it Will make striker slot are safe for 10 years

Origi is a great player and when he plays, he produces. He has been on loaded teams; but his goals per minute and goals per shot stats are incredible. If Milan sign him, then he will become a real superstar here.
