CorSport: Dest shines in Qatar as Milan ponder €20m agreement with Barcelona

By Oliver Fisher -

The AC Milan management have been able to watch Sergino Dest’s performances at the World Cup with a smile as he shone for the USA.

Ultimately the United States suffered elimination in the round of 16 against the Netherlands, but he had a very positive World Cup where he played all four matches played as a starter and demonstrated his abilities as an attacking full-back.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), Stefano Pioli and the Milan staff hope to get back a player who is in a better state of form and take full advantage of his capabilities in the second part of the season.

The paper also mentioned a possible investment at the end of the season because if things go well between now and next June, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara would have to pay out €20m for a permanent transfer, the price set in August as part of the loan agreement with Barcelona.

  1. He’s alright , but no. Shift Kalulu back to RB, put more faith in Thiaw for CB, and spend that money elsewhere (LB, RW, CB, AM)

  2. Dest always has this immense talent. Just a matter of how we can fully activate it or not. Remember how Theo defended on his first season? But yes, 20 mil seems high based on his performance (at least till now).

  3. We have Calabria,Florenzi and Kalulu to play there i dont any need in spending 20m on Dest just beacause he got one assist and played four games fo r USA national team in the World Cup!
