Di Marzio: Milan try for Aston Villa and Spurs duo in right-back pursuit – the situation

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are looking for a new right-back who can come in and instantly challenge for a starting place, with Aston Villa’s Matty Cash reportedly on their list of targets.

In our exclusive report about Tiago Santos in April, we stated that the management are looking for a new right-sided defender because of the fact Davide Calabria’s back-ups are the ageing Alessandro Florenzi and the untested Filippo Terracciano.

According to what is being reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, the Milan management are working to improve the right side of their defence and they are targeting Tottenham’s Emerson Royal and Aston Villa’s Matty Cash.

In recent days, Milan met with the agent of the former and they found out that Spurs’ request is €25m to sell the Brazilian, an amount they consider too high given that he has been used a lot less under Ange Postecoglou.

The Rossoneri also tried for Cash, but Aston Villa have also set a high asking price for the Poland international. Some work will be needed to negotiate the price, or the Rossoneri might turn to other targets like Tiago Santos.

Royal has 10 appearances for the Brazilian national team and is 25 years of age, while Cash is a year older and he has 11 caps for Poland plus one goal.
