Di Marzio: Milan target to opponent – Brandt finally arrives at San Siro

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan fans are finally going to see Julian Brandt in action at San Siro after a failed transfer pursuit for the German in 2018, but he is still playing as an opponent.

As has been detailed by Gianluca Di Marzio for Grand Hotel Calciomercato, Milan were incredibly keen on signing Brandt in 2018 when he was playing for Bayer Leverkusen.

He then moved to Borussia Dortmund a year later for a fee of €25m and has been an important player for them ever since.

He will almost certainly be starting the game at San Siro against Milan this evening. Former Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli went to view Brandt in 2018 in Germany, and he was also looking at Kerem Demirbay.

Inter and Lazio were the other Serie A sides that were looking seriously at signing Brandt back in 2018. It was decided that Milan did not have the economic power to make the deal happen.
