Di Marzio: Milan pushing to sign record-breaking teenage forward from Lazio

By Oliver Fisher -

Another new target has emerged in AC Milan’s mission to reinforce the attacking department with young talent, a report claims.

According to a report from Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan are interested in signing Luka Romero, an 18-year-old Argentine forward whose contract with Lazio is about to expire who is also liked by some Spanish clubs.

Romero was born in Mexico and with dual Argentine and Spanish passports, and he arrived at Lazio on a free transfer from Real Mallorca. Last season he scored goal in 12 appearances under Maurizio Sarri, but did not get much playing time.

The teenager can play either as a right winger or a playmaker and he represented his country at the U20 World Cup with Argentina coached by Javier Mascherano, when he scored 2 goals in 4 appearances.

The player has already been called up by Scaloni for the senior national team. He came through Mallorca’s youth team and made his first-team debut in LaLiga aged 15 years and 219 days, becoming the youngest player to play in a ‘top five’ European league.

  1. This is the new Milan now.
Linked to everything in the market but no move, because why? Transfer budget is bellow 40m and some clowns are in support of this.

  2. I think I remember Messi spoke highly of this kid, though not sure if he’s overhyped or legit talented. Still, he should be a great addition considering his potential and should be getting valuable minutes as RW. And considering he’s out of contract soon, a no brainer if we can get him.

  3. The transfer Windows isnt officially open anyway. Just wait.

But if this is True, at last we got a real talent here, this kid is real deal. Good start I guess, if we got this kid and chukwueze (one can hope lol) then with also Saelemakers our right winger is set.

    1. I remember my laziale brother spoke highly of him. But he said the agent fee is high, that’s why Lazio fail to renew the contract.

      1. Yea, hopefully he will come and be good. Who knows, maybe he will follow the likes of Messi and Ansu Fati, bright from young age and become starter.

  4. Lord, it seems like we are accompanying Berlusconi to hell. Give young players to a coach that doesn’t involve young players.

By the way, I found this interesting video about “moneyball” as I tried to understand where we are heading now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrwwVoD1RQQ
So we will follow the path of Brentford, Midtjylland and Toulouse. Let’s talk about ambitions yeah.

We could be under Investcorp’s management now with maybe De Zerbi or some relevant coach, in competition for Mbappé, but we have to witness this havoc. I wish I was blind as some people here. This life is so cruel.

    1. ” I wish I was blind as some people here. This life is so cruel.”

I wish people would stop crying about this every single day. Yes, we’re owned by Hitler, you had a lousy breakfast, your underpants are too tight and everything is ruined but man up and STFU. No one wants to read you bitch about the situation every f*ng day.

No could even say: support the team or GTFO.

      1. Haha yeah I did my best to sound dramatic to balance the insane optimism that we can see here every day. Sorry to disrupt your magical enchanting world my friend.

Not a religious person, but I like this verse from the Bible it’s pretty relevant rn: “Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” Forza pit!

    2. You seriously think that? Within one year, of Investcorp’s ownership, we would’ve signed Mbapppe? BTW, Investcorp is a, private entity, they aren’t owned by any Middle East royal family.. Unlike City, PSG or Newcastle owners!

City and PSG owners, didn’t make bank breaking signings, at the beginning of their ownership.. They started by, regularly finishing in top four, to give the club visibility and grow as a brand! Same thing is being, done by Newcastle owners..

      1. Untrue. Qatar came late during the mercato for their first year in Paris, but by their second summer they bought Thiago Silva and Zlatan, we remember that, and some more guys at crazy costs. PSG doesn’t own their stadium and at the time they were such a lame institution. Because of the failure of… American owners before them. So yeah, now they $150 protective vests at their 5th Avenue store and they have a big brand, but they didn’t lose time when they entered the building. Tell me about the FPF, these guys always find a way to avoid it (own sponsor, influence, bribery?).

          1. They are winning their domestic championship every year and they compete for UCL every year. But I agree with you on the fact that the clowns at the helm brought some primadonnas because they don’t know football, we are making a lot of fun with that in France (Neymar going to carnival, Messi walking on the pitch, Verratti the chainsmoker, etc.). I guess with Maldini and Massara it wouldn’t happen. But it’s just some metaverse reality for us now, sadly.

          2. “They are winning their domestic championship every year and they compete for UCL every year.” There is almost zero competition in Ligue 1. Even a moderate investment there results in winning the league. To compare the dynamic there to the one in Serie A is disingenuous. It’s clear that PSG want the CL more than anything as they fire every manager after one season when they don’t win it despite winning the league. I don’t want that circus at my club.

      2. Definitely not, with Investcorp, our debt instanly rise by 400m because they use bank loan using Milan name instead of vendor loan which is replaced by share if not paid. Investcorp scheme is similar to Glazer, have the club pay for the loan they use to buy the club.

    3. From Maldini lovers now middle east money lover. Every news , every article ,every day ,every news you always comment bad for AC Milan . If you are really wanting squad full of star like mbappe go support PSG. Italian club cannot afford star player unlike EPL club or PSG or Real Madrid. Accept that reality if you still want support AC Milan . We failed to get minimum 1 starter player from 56m euro budget , just one but we cannot last season. After that failure , director asking full power transfer authority like galliani in the past also big budget and guess what ? He got fired . He lost his job because of that , if only he admit make mistake in hotel meeting without asking more authority equal to galliani then i believe his job still safe

      1. What you conclude is irrelevant, you weren’t at the hotel meeting. None of us. What we can conclude is that Maldini had football ambitions and Jerry has business ambitions. I’m not rooting for Milan’s brand, I’m rooting for the football team. As tifosi, we spend money and time to support the team and the players and we can expect more than just being considered as lemmings following blindly a blind shepherd. Maybe you were ecstatic as well during the Banter era. Good for you because it looks like we are heading there one more time.

Don’t patronize me, and the people here with whom I share the same feelings, explaining how we should act. Don’t tell me that PSG and Ligue 1 were more important than Milan and Serie A. I’m French, I know it’s delusional. Milan today is ten times what PSG was before QSI. From my point of view, we live in a world ruled by money, and it has the exact same smell when it comes from Wall Street or Middle East.

        1. Wow season still not started but you already say ACM get to banter era? I give you applause, you hoping AC Milan fall down right ? So you can mocking owner & coach wildly, im afraid your prayer will come back to you. You will silence once AC Milan win title next season just like we got scudetto . You are just glory hunter. Im already supporting this club from 1990 , did you think ACM will easily fall to banter era just because your prayer? I suggest you move on and go support other club , AC Milan not a club that will sign star player or sign top coach like guardiola or klopp. You will waste your life waiting maldini back as director , no oil money from middle east interesting to buy AC Milan due to bad league structure,no stadium, low income

          1. I don’t see your point man are we comparing our dcks now? Glad for you if you support since 1990, that’s my birth year so congrats you’re a Milan fan for longer than I am. Are you born and raised in San Siro or do you support Milan because they had elegant players and were competing for trophies at that time? Most of us are Milan fans because of the glorious history of the club. I went to 9 games this season. I jump, I sing, I spend time and money. Of course I wish we win the scudetto. Unlike Jerry whose first purpose is the 4th place in Serie A. I express my concern and until I’m proved wrong (and man I wish), I will continue because it’s the purpose of the comment section. You can write to Oli and ask him to ban me if you please. And go check Milan’s official facebook page, you will see legions of “glory hunter” fans publishing “#CardinaleOut” on the very profile picture of the page and every publication. Your narrow opinion doesn’t bother me.

Oh, and this: “bad league structure,no stadium, low income” was the exact definition of PSG before QSI.

          2. If you were from the 90s you would be saying the exact opposite. From the late 80s and onwards Milan have been buying star names….Silvio spent a chunk of money.

    4. What are you talking about??? Crazy comment.

Theo age when joined = 20
Leao age when joined = 20
Tonali age when joined = 21
Thiaw age when joined = 20
Kalulu age when joined = 20

All starters or heavily used. Maybe Pioli was given players he didn’t ask for and thus does not use them? Hence the reports that Pioli will be more involved in deciding who arrive.

      1. It’s not like Pioli did have any other choice at the time. See Thiaw. Burried in the depth chart until there were no other choice for Pioli. Maybe Vranckx or Adli would have turned into solid players with playing time.

        1. Yes yes , pioli always wrong , maldini always right. So why did he choose giampaolo and pioli as coach , it is better he choose bartolomeo as coach because bartolomeo worship him as god

  5. Lord, it seems like we are accompanying Berlusconi to hell. Give young players to a coach that doesn’t involve young players.

By the way, I found this interesting video about “moneyball” as I tried to understand where we are heading now: it’s called “How Brentford’s Moneyball Approach Works” on Tifo Football’s channel (it seems like we can’t post YT links here).

    1. Our hope is to set up the stadium issues and sell Milan really fast hopefully to someone who actually cares about football.

    2. Investcorp? Lol 🤣

They don’t even have money for takeover. Their plan on buying Milan involve 400m bank loan that will be counted as Milan’s debt, similar to how Glazer bought Man Utd.

Note that vendor loan used by RedBird is not counted as Milan’s debt, if RedBird fail to pay, Elliot will get Milan’s share of similar value.

  6. yes lets bring an overhyped kid that lazio didnt notice how good he is and they are letting him go for free , lazio doesnt play in the pl , they have gaps if hes that good they would have used him

  7. The kid is 18 and a free agent.
    It’s a win-win situation.
If he turns out good we got a gem, if he doesn’t no big deal, you didn’t spend much to get him besides agent fees and some signing bonus.

    1. we have gaps man, we need 8 players, we need players that can deliver, he cannot fil a spot just coz hes free , then when he turns out to be bad we will sell him for 3 mill , we are not a full and healthy team that cant try these stuff, if we do not sign players that can deliver, we wont be making top 4 next season, the league is getting tougher and we are going backwards

      1. He isn’t coming to start or even play much. Nor he is the last player they will sign.
It’s an opportunity to sign a talent that can turn good in few years and they are taking that opportunity.

        1. yes coz lazio are dumb, they wont let savic leave for less than 30 mill who still has 1 year on his contract but they are willing to let this kid that is full of potential go for free, stop kidding urself man , the only reason we are being linked to these kind of players is that they are free and we have an embaressing trasnfer budget.

          1. Yes teams are dumb sometimes.
Was Juventus dumb for letting Dybala leave for free? Yes.
Was Milan dumb for letting Pirlo, Donnarumma, Kessie, Romagnoli, Bonaventura, Hakan leave for free? Yes.
There are plenty of dumb moves by clubs in every window.
Milan doesn’t lose anything by signing this kid. We can only gain something.
Kid plays for Argentina u20 and has been called up by their senior team. So there is a talent there. He is only 18 and he is free agent

    2. The agent is asking for 5mil in commisions.

I don’t know how good he can be, but Sarri doesn’t like surprised and goes with the most certain choices. Luka likely didn’t give him enough reasons to start but give the same player to De Zerbi style coach and he will be visible.

Now, Pioli isn’t that coach either..

  8. We are all talking about chukwueze, what if he aslo struggle to hit the grounding running in his first season with us,will he call him a bad signing or flop? Changing environment and league has its toll on this guy’s as they are human like everyone one of us,only a few players have been able to make a real impact on there new team in their first season…even the great Kaka struggled at Madrid…leave the management be and let them do their Job,moreover non’ya money was invested in signing players.

  9. juve and Dybala i cant comment but on our players i can, and all the players you mentioned are proven players in serie A, that means they required big salaries, pirlo we had no money so we were not dumb we were broke, dollaruma and hakan u need to understand that if we signed them then no one wld buy them especially gigi he was demanding a 12 mill salary, mikes package doesnt exceed 25 salary included over 5 years, kessie we cldnt let him go b4 end of season coz we had no replacement plus ur owner a incredibly low salary cap, bonna was getting old and romagnoli was a big mistake but again hes proven serie A player, this kid on the other hand is just free and young thats it. @z

  10. I knew as soon as I saw the photo he was Argentinean. He’s 5ft 5″. Far too small, hard no. Play El Hilali, you cowards.

  11. The kid is talented but he will be another Brahim Diaz… has good technique but he falls down at every touch, he could probably play on RW but as attacking mildfielder Milan needs a strong player with good vision… too bad we can’t afford Gunodan
