Di Marzio: Milan turn to Fulham defender – Moncada holds talks with agent

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have pivoted targets as their search for a central defender continues, and Tosin Adarabioyo of Fulham is the latest name in their sights.

Stefano Pioli declared in his press conference on the eve of the game against Udinese that the objective remains to sign a new centre-back before the window closes, given the various injury problems in that department.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Clement Lenglet of Aston Villa (on loan from Barcelona) and Lilian Brassier of Brest are on the list, but in the last few hours Milan have started contacts for Adarabioyo from Fulham.

In the case of Lenglet, the Milan management are awaiting the approval from Villa to terminate his loan early before they can then negotiate with Barcelona regarding a new loan, while for Brassier it is down to Brest to reduce their demands.

Adarabioyo meanwhile has a contract with Fulham that expires in June and Milan’s technical director Geoffrey Moncada has held talks with the player’s brother and agent to gauge the conditions for a possible move.

Milan appear to be more interested in securing him on a free transfer, but the 26-year-old could also arrive in January with the payment of compensation to Fulham. The Rossoneri are not the only club interested in the player, Di Marzio adds.

  1. Instead of signing a defender who is 26 years old already but never been called for national team, just because he is free (or nearly), I rather we develop our youngsters such as Simic when our main CBs are being injured (it’s not that they are permanently leaving). Unless Pioli want to develop 5-0-5 or 6-0-4 formation. Lets stop gambling signing just because free. Remember Origi’s case

  2. He can never be called for the England national team.. all these Nigerians in England should have known these, except gou are exceptionally good like fisayo saka. He should have made himself ready for Nigeria super eagles just like Ajayi Sami who play for westbrom. lukman, Aribo, Aina,… Even our very own Tomori haven’t feature much for the England national team when called upon

  3. Cheap Or free transfers doesn’t improve in any way out squad so you might as well improve simic if you don’t buy quality CB and you want needless CB for crying out loud

  4. He’s interesting and not a bad defender but could come with large wages. And if he flops we may be stuck with that and another situation like Origi. Either sign someone younger with lower wages and greater upside or stick with what we have.
