Di Marzio explains why Milan are unlikely to move for Chelsea man

By Oliver Fisher -

Gianluca Di Marzio has suggested that AC Milan are not concretely interested in signing Edouard Mendy from Chelsea despite the links from England.

It was reported earlier this month by The Sun that Mendy has turned down the offer of a new deal from Chelsea and Milan were mentioned as being among the most interested clubs, especially given their search for a new player in that role as Ciprian Tatarusanu’s deal expires at the end of the season.

In an article for Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky spoke about the goalkeeper situation at the Rossoneri, writing that the club have moved ahead of time to find an agreement with Marco Sportiello as the new deputy to Mike Maignan for next season.

However, the strategy for Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara at present is to be vigilant and immediately ready for a temporary and possibly low-cost goalkeeper solution, which is why the road leading to Mendy from Chelsea seems very uphill given the costs of the operation.
