AC Milan lost the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday night, and it has been revealed that this may have been better for the long-run.
Losing a final is never nice, especially when the hopes of a season rest upon it. However, Milan may have actually saved themselves in the process of being defeated by Bologna, it seems. Considering their season, it is certainly a questionable sentiment.
Before the game, there were suggestions that the club could keep things the same with a victory, as they would still qualify for Europe – which many fans had actually feared. Today, those fears have been confirmed and Francesco Nasato relays words from Peppe Di Stefano on X.
“If AC Milan had won the Coppa Italia there was a real possibility that things would have stayed the same. That’s the absurdity of this story, even if they had won the second competition of the season there are still some macro negative results this season.”
Considering the severeness of this season, the fact that the management would actually consider making no changes despite having a plethora of reasons to do so, is simply baffling. At least there can now be anticipation for much needed changes ahead of next year.
Nothing will be better until a new owner takes over. They got lucky with Maldini and the scudetto season with lightning in a bottle and they have no clue what to do next. I have zero expectations for next season and I wouldn’t be surprised if both tiji and puli leave over the next 2 years.
Got lucky? They were the best team in the league for 1,5 seasons (starting from the January when Kjaer & Z arrived). 🙂
exactly, they got lucky to have gathered the core of the leaders for the team which lead to the scudetto I said nothing about the players being lucky to win those games, we absolutely deserved our performances. the management got lucky in putting the right people in place and had the right people interested in the project. They don’t have that luck this time around and now the reputation precedes them which is not good. has nothing to do with the merit of the victories on the player manager side.
When you catch lightning in a bottle, you still have the bottle with the lightning in it (thus the saying). What they did was take that bottle and launch it as far away as possible saying they’ll create their own lightening. It’s absurd.
OK. This is something I agree to.
Milan is up for sale, and that’s the only explanation for this disgrace. Cardinale has realized that football is a serious matter, not just a marketing campaign. If everything seems frozen or everyone looks confused, it’s possibly because something is happening within the ownership structure, and they need time to sort it out. I hope!!!!!
The management has fallen apart and paralyzed after the coppa final defeat. You do not just simply rip the bandage and move on. Everything has failed and there must be major changes at the owner’s level before the club can start fresh. A new season does not mean anything with this current management. The vendor loan needs to be reimbursed, there is no cash to reinforce the squad without selling core players, there will be no revenue from European football, the loanees will return and reappear on the payroll. What a big mess this club is in.
