Dortmund coach reassures Fullkrug amid Milan links: “A central role”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan continue to be linked with a move for Niclas Fullkrug of Borussia Dortmund but their head coach Nuri Sahin has poured cold water on things for now.

As MilanNews reported earlier today, Milan are looking to sign another striker after Alvaro Morata and Fullkrug is the name at the top of the list. While there is an agreement with the player in place, they must find one with Borussia Dortmund, who are asking for €15m.

Fullkrug was the Bundesliga’s top scorer in 2022-23 which earned him a move to Dortmund, for whom he scored 16 goals across all competitions and also earned a starting spot for the German national team in the process.

However, BVB recently signed Serhou Guirassy from Stuttgart, increasing their attacking options but also perhaps raising question marks in Fullkrug’s mind about how important he is going to be, especially after the change in coach.

Sahin spoke about the attacking options in an interview with Sky Germany and he insisted that the 31-year-old remains a key part of his plans.

“Fülle knows what I think of him, he was my teammate in Bremen and I appreciate him a lot. We want to have the best possible team, and in my plans both Fullkrug and Guirassy have a central role,” he said (via MilanNews).

  1. He has a decision to make. Milan will offer more opportunities, and pay, than Dortmund. However, with the coach being his former teammate, and, now, making promises, he might just stay. Would love to see him at Milan, though.
