Tuttosport: Milan go cold on Aston Villa midfielder while waiting for Renato Sanches

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are continuing to evaluate different options to come in and potentially reinforce the midfield department but they have gone cold on one option, a report claims.

According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), it seems certain that directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will have to sign a midfielder in the summer mercato, especially after Franck Kessie’s departure to join Barcelona and the doubts over Tiemoue Bakayoko’s future.

The Rossoneri management are trying to understand how the situation linked to Renato Sanches will end, given that they are currently in a transfer battle with Paris Saint-Germain to land the Portugal international.

In the meantime, the hypothesis linked to Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa seems to have faded, with Milan now not so keen on landing the Brazilian midfielder despite the fact that his contract is expiring in June 2023 meaning he could be available in some sort of a cut-price deal.

  1. Don’t get it
Douglas Luiz is much more reminding Kessie than Renato. We need strength in the middle, not some sissy which will break after first Seria A tackle.
We’ve already missed on Fernandez, don’t lose this guy as well because of this money lover

  2. only if involved in a swap with Bennacer (or sale of Bennacer elsewhere). Salary wise, I don’t know how much he gets at Aston Villa, but I don’t know if he’d want to leave Premier League for Serie A.

Whatever happens, I think the only parts needing some immediate touches are the attacking midfielder (CDK), possible central defender if Gabbia leaves and possibly left-back if Ballo Toure has not improved defensively.
