Dragusin’s agent confirms Milan made an attempt before Tottenham move

The agent of Romanian defender Radu Dragusin has confirmed that AC Milan did make an attempt to sign him from Genoa but Tottenham was his favoured destination.

Speaking during an interview with Romanian outlet Gsp.ro (via Milan News), Florin Manea discussed what has potentially been the biggest decision of his career so far and the thought that went into it.

There were a number of teams seeking a deal for Dragusin this month and Milan were one of them. It seemed that the real race was between Tottenham in the Premier League, and Bayern Munich.

The latter are certainly the biggest current side vying for his signature, and that is why Manea could not believe that he found himself in a position where he was turning the German side down.

I can’t believe I rejected Bayern Munich”, Manea said. “We made the choice this morning at 8am. It’s difficult to make such a choice, Bayern wanted him badly and last night the official offer arrived. There was more money from Bayern, but he said that this is the right step in his career.”

Manea also explained that he stayed up all night with Dragusin trying to decide which club he should go to, and that is when he explained that Milan and Napoli had both made approaches to keep Dragusin in Serie A, but the pull of the Premier League was too strong.

“We stayed up all night thinking. I didn’t sleep at all. We stayed to see what the advantages and disadvantages are. Both Napoli and Milan wanted him. But he dreamed of playing in the Premier League since he was young,” he said.

Milan are now expected to turn their attention to Stade Brest’s Lilian Brassier and perhaps Torino’s Alessandro Buongiorno.
