Pellegatti: Either Romagnoli or Botman to be part of Milan’s defence next season but not both

It is unlikely that Sven Botman and Alessio Romagnoli will both be AC Milan players heading into next season, according to one journalist.

Carlo Pellegatti spoke on his YouTube channel (via MilanNews) this afternoon in a video during which he talked about the future of Milan’s defence with regards to the new names that could arrive and existing ones who could leave.

He reports that Romagnoli could remain if Botman does not arrive from Lille as several sources are reporting is expected to happen, but this is under the assumption that the current Milan captain does not find an agreement with Lazio.

If he does not find one then he could stay, but what seems to be almost certain at this point is that Botman and Romagnoli will not be together in Stefano Pioli’s squad going into the 2022-23 season, given their characteristics and the fact Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu and Simon Kjaer are already present.

    1. Botman will cost 30M right away + agent and sign on fee. If we have a certain budget I would rather buy a top striker and leave Romagnoli. Tomori and Kalulu have been great and we have Kjaer coming back. It makes sense not to buy a position we already have good coverage of and I didn’t even mention Gabbia.

      1. Hard to disagree here. There is no place available in the the starting 11 for either of them so better use the money on a RW instead.

  1. To win the champions league kalulu need to be the RB especially against English teams or PSG, Bayern etc.
To really compete in Europe you need at least 18 top players, 3 or 4 hungry U-21 players plus 1 or 2 veterans that can deliver whenever need it.
Right now we need at least to between 2 & 4 top players but under 24 years. AM, CF, CB, RW.
We olso need new Back-up U-21 LB, DM, etc.
