Following the appointment of Max Allegri, a dire reality has been confirmed for AC Milan. Indeed, in the last eleven years, the Rossoneri have had 11 different head coaches (!).
The last eleven years, when looked at as a whole, haven’t been hugely successful for the Rossoneri. Sure, the 2021-22 Scudetto and the return to the Champions League in the same season count for something, but the years before that were a proper struggle.

This is highlighted by the fact that since Allegri left Milan in January of 2014, there have been eleven head coaches on the Rossoneri bench. From Clarence Seedorf to Sergio Conceicao most recently, it’s clear that there has been a lack of stability.
- Clarence Seedorf: January 2014 to June 2014.
- Filippo Inzaghi: July 2014 to June 2015.
- Sinisa Mihajlovic: June 2015 to April 2016.
- Cristian Brocchi: April 2016 to June 2016.
- Vincenzo Montella: July 2016 to November 2017.
- Gennaro Gattuso: November 2017 to May 2019.
- Marco Giampaolo: July 2019 to October 2019.
- Stefano Pioli: October 2019 to June 2024.
- Paulo Fonseca: July 2024 to December 2024.
- Sergio Conceicao: December 2024 to May 2025.
- Max Allegri: May 2025 to current.
On the other hand, as you can see above, Stefano Pioli did stay at the club for quite some time and that’s also when Milan enjoyed the most success. There seems to be a connection between stability and success (duh), in other words, and the hope is that Allegri can provide both of these.
Pioli was manager for nearly half of those.
So the stability returned.
Then the club decided to bring the havoc again.
Good that Allegri’s back.
It almost guarantees a return to the Champions league next season.
