Emerson Royal had a pleasant 26th birthday all told, as AC Milan came from behind to beat Como and he was named the man of the match.

Milan were not at the races for large parts of the game against Cesc Fabregas’ men, who took the lead early in the second half when Assane Diao capped off a sweeping counter with a powerful left-footed shot.

However, so far under Sergio Conceicao we have learned that the Rossoneri will not lay down when they go behind, and sure enough they scored twice in quick succession – in the 71st and 75th minute – to turn the game on its head.

The leveller came from Theo Hernandez, his 30th goal in Serie A which sees him overtake Paolo Maldini, while Rafael Leao provided the winner with a lovely composed finish after Tammy Abraham’s through ball.

After the game and scooping his Panini Player of the Match award, Emerson spoke about another come-from-behind win under Conceicao, with MilanNews relaying his comments.

You were man of the match…

“I’m very happy with the team’s performance, when we go so hard to beat us: we are stronger every day.”

Do you have more confidence under Conceicao?

“We are working every day for this. We are more aggressive with and without the ball: this work is too important.”

What did Conceicao tell you at the end of the match?

“He told me I played a great game and that he was happy for me.”

  1. In last 10 minutes he was a stand out, that must be said. He worked everywhere. But that doesn’t take away the fact he was miserable as usual for 80 minutes.

  2. I don’t know how he got it… I saw the article and wondered if I watched another game. I really felt sleepy during the game until they scored us. I couldn’t sleep again. Like why da fvck do we concede if we can’t score with our defenders as strikers

  3. The guy is a theater, clown.Nothing against him personaly but he is not able to anything right, with or without ball.I got a feeling like he is never been on football training.Zero,niente,null.If he is 26 now,he’ll never be a football player, not by a chance. Not a single right pass,cross,diagonal,vertical…..nothing…his runs are useless, positioning worse then terible…attackers are running beside him like he does not exist.Correct me if I am wrong.Calabria(which I dont like at all)is profesor for him……Walker?10 times more needed as Rushford

      1. Watch your tounge Ibrahim, you shouldnt talk like that with people on internet you dont know. The rule is….you talk about theme,it’s ok,never about people who are expresing their opinion. You dont know me enough to”stfu”me…I am not your family,or friend, keep that for them. For your info,I am over 45 in football as player, manager and trainer in the last 2 decades,I know exactly what I am talking about.Just behave, and we’ll be good

  4. lol what in the actual F???? I was watching this game thinking, this guy is a pro player??? He astonishes me every game with his terrible abilities. He ruins any attempt to go forward because he can’t get the ball out from his feet, it’s awful. When timing is everything, he’s always a step behind. This is what scrapping the bottom of the barrel feels like I guess lol.

    1. You go into every match thinking you’ve seen the lowest from him but he still manages to top that each week. Just watch the first 5 minutes of the match and see his 4 first passes go out of play or the opponents. That sums up his “talent”. 😀

  5. I have to be honest that Emerson Flop played as the Emerson Flop we see week in and week out before we concede the goal but after that he turned it up and put in the best 30 minutes I have ever seen from him. If he played 90 minutes like he did in the last 30 in this game then am gonna change his name from Emerson Flop to Emerson Royal. BUT MOTM…. The officials must be high to give it to him.

  6. They gave him a birthday gift out of pity. MOTM to Royal failure? What a joke. Alex, Mike, Raffa, Tammy were wayy better than him.

  7. When we conceded. He ran like crazy attacking and throwing his body when he defend. He knew when we lost everybody and the management (cause theyre betting with him) will put it on him. I hope he feels this way all the time. But still, man of the match? The official must be high. Lol

  8. I see most fan on the site are children or Italians or blind , he was the best Milan player today, I don’t get the hate because he’s starting over an Italian player, Calabria can’t defend he gets beaten like 10times a match and I don’t hear complaints, it’s very irritating see these comments

  9. Hate on this guy is unreal. Many of you hated him when he joined us from Tottenham.
I watched the game yesterday, it is true that he played bad in the first half… But who played good??? Nobody.

In the second half, he worked his butt off.
Game officials gave him MOTM and somehow ‘keyboard experts’ are laughing at him and those officials.

How many of you watched the whole game? Yeah, that is what I thought.

    1. First, MOTM was never that big of a deal. I’ve seen a lot of bad/weird takes,…
With that said, this isn’t Emerson’s worst game. He was mostly bad, but at some point I felt like he was the only one trying to get us back into the game. He tried hard, moved more, was more aggressive and he somehow set up attacks and the second goal came from a challenge he won (even though he was a bit clumsy in that same action).
Overall, nobody was really good which makes this MOTM even more irrelevant. I felt like if anyone deserves it though, it had to be Leao.

    2. Emerson is pure garbage, his Brazilian voodoo must be effective, MOTM impossible. Running around, trying or watever you said amount to nothing, anything and everything will always pass Emerson, once Milan is under attack from the right and i see Emerson on the defense, my heart is always trembling

  10. Have they watched the match?! That’s a joke, the man can not cross the ball into the penalty area. Even Calabria is better in that than him

  11. I thought he played well (the bar is very low for him anyways) & was one of our better players (that’s how poor we were for over an hour). He worked very hard, had some good tackles and generally won his battle against Como’s LWB but his decison-making, forward passes & crosses can be head-scratching most times. MOTM? I don’t think so.

I thought Malick Thiaw was our best player before he was subbed off. Apart from the tackle that got him booked, he was absolutely superb.
He has been the best CB in our ranks the last few weeks. Crazy how a lot of people here wanted him sold in the summer.

  12. It’s not like Panini Player Of The Match is chosen by experts. The winner is chosen by an online public vote. It was probably his family and friends spamming cause it’s his birthday.

    1. They chose it like a minute after the whistle vs Cagliari tho?
Can you clarify on how that’s possible, cuz that doesn’t make sense to me.
