Emerson Royal has been criticised for his performance during AC Milan’s draw with Juventus, which continued a difficult start to the season.
Royal arrived at Milan in the summer from Spurs, where he was struggling to get game time. He has taken the starting right-back spot from Davide Calabria, who has struggled with injury problems.
He got a 5 out of 10 in our player ratings from the game against Juve last night, with the following comment: “The Brazilian was beaten far too many times and was even forced to take a yellow card, and a free-kick in a dangerous position, on one occasion. In addition to this, he didn’t add anything when going forward and lost all of the 50-50 duels.”
As Radio Rossonera relay, after yesterday’s match the CBS Sports Golazo commentators Matteo Bonetti and Mike Grella criticised the Brazilian, making a more general comment on his first few months in red and black.
“Emerson Royal, this is one of the worst players I have ever seen at Milan. Every week he gets beaten, he commits fouls. He is the worst in Serie A. What’s wrong with Calabria? Calabria is the best of the two.”

I actually had to check to make sure that we really really DID pay money for this guy, he is NOT a loan. He didn’t even get game time for Spurs! One of the slowest right backs i have ever seen. Is actually static from a standing start. Even Djamel Mesbah had more to his game than this clown.

Royal will be remembered as the least technical Brazilian ever to play football. I’m starting to doubt he has a faked passport as he simply cannot be Brazilian with his “flair” and “talent”. Even 2 year toddlers are better with the ball than him.
The man who brought him in Milan should be kicked out because he probably does not understand football, or he might be corrupted and made some money by acquiring him!
I’ve followed many teams which made dubious decisions these last 15-20 years and the decision to bring Royal has to be one of the worst I can think of, including the decisions we’ve made during the banter era.
If things remain as they are, the decision to bring him should be investigated and one of the management has to be jailed for it.
For me there were worst transfers in our history,Bonnuci for 30 mil to get him back to Juve for free and out of date Higuain as one of them .
I cant remember the name of the player but i know that we payed for him cca 30 mil from Roma,he was young, CM and in the transfter windows Luka Modrić went to Tottenham for 21 mil.Luka won Ballon Door and i cant even remember this 30 mil flops name :).Gallianis and for me Milans worst transfer ever .
I remembered the name now,Andrea Bertolacci,we payed for him 21 mil as i see now ,payed him also 3 mil just to leave the club on free transfer few years later 🙂 .

I just don’t get it. When you play the 4231 you need to use inverted wingers but they did that mostly on the right and not with Theo. Every time they got into a good position I’d look forward a bit and see Royal hanging at the top of the 18 and know we aren’t scoring. It’s really embarrassing. How can you expect anything from that guy at this point. Calabria isn’t great at inverted winger either and you won’t play Jimenez, so WHY do we continue with this formation? It’s just nonsense. If it’s no longer benefiting Leao which is why we relied on it in the recent past, then why do we continue with it? It doesn’t help Morata b/c there’s no one to provide service and it doesn’t help the defense. I’ll beat the dead horse here and say if someone isn’t fired in the C-suite team, it’ll be a great injustice as Maldini was fired for less than the type of errors this group have made. AMC coach and directors let Kalulu go to rival Juventus for a cheap deal and he’s become a stater in the heart of their defense, but they spent 16 millions for a clown in Royal.
