AC Milan could be a good fit for Christian Pulisic and are among the potential destinations for the Chelsea winger, a report claims.
ESPN are reporting that Juventus are leading the race to sign the former Borussia Dortmund star who could be available for a transfer fee of around €23m, but his €15m-a-year wages are an obstacle.
They add that Milan, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Napoli have all enquired and have learned the figures required to do a deal, while Atletico Madrid also hold an interest in the USA international.
The latest update describes Milan as ‘a very interesting option for Pulisic’ given the pressure to get their summer signings right after Malick Thiaw, Divock Origi, Charles De Ketelaere, Sergino Dest, Aster Vranckx arrived last summer, with only Thiaw contributing.
Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara ‘will still look for players under the age of 25’ (Pulisic is 24) and with ‘a transfer fee of less than €40m, experience and a point to prove’.
Goalkeeper Mike Maignan, centre-back Fikayo Tomori and playmaker Brahim Diaz are examples of this transfer strategy, and the management believe Pulisic could have a similar impact.
Alexis Saelemaekers and Junior Messias have never fully convinced on the opposite flank to Rafael Leao, and they think that Pulisic can do a good job there, while it would also be a boost to the club’s marketing in the United States.
Any decent RW would be an upgrade so why not
Because of that 15m per year wage!
He’s not seriously an option for us unfortunately – would be a nice fit but just not in the price range.
True, I hadn’t paid attention about his wages, it indeed is way too much
Weeell, let’s see. Is that 15m net or 15m gross? I have to believe it’s gross, because 15m net would make Pulisic one of the best players in the world. 15m gross in Italy is 7.5m net. Then the growth decree will bring it down to 3.75m. This is below our “wage cap”, so doable, assuming we’ve got our units of measurement verified!
Not a chance. He earns more than double what Leao’s getting, even now that he’s renewed. Milan simply don’t have that sort of money, and I’m sure Pulisic won’t halve his wages.
In England wages are reported in net whereas in Italy they are reported in gross so its actually a lot closer than it looks and that’s before you remember we are paying Leao’s 18 million fine.
We aren’t paying Leao fine, Lille will.
And I don’t get what you mean with gross and net… for example Leaos wage will be €5m net (outside of tax) per season. What do you mean with gross? Care to elaborate?
He is better to spend instead of loftus for 15M
He is Ideal and skillful in both of No 10 amd No 7 or Rogjt Winger.
Send out Mesiess amd Florenzi
How the hell would florenzi come into the equation of signing pulisic as the italian is a right back and not a right wing ?
injury prone player. additionally he would have to take 4-5mil salary for Milan to go out and have a chance, which is 10mil less than he is currently earning. doubt he would accept
The 15M€ is gross – not net.
He is my primary target after Berardi. He would take a slash on his wages to play for us and reestablish his name. Depending on the term on his contract, we can maybe get him on a loan with option to buy, they take on a lion’s share of the wages, and a resale percentage going to Chelsea if we purchase outright and can balance our books should we have to sell him.
Pulisic is not worth that amount in wages for any club and has barely shown much world class ability with Chelsea in the last few years. I’d prefer Ismaila Sarr, as I feel he has the most potential to be our Leao on the right.
Everyone is scared that pulisic is gonna explode. Chelsea build the CL team around him, and he wins trophies, Build the team around pulisic. But europeans are afraid they will have to build a statue for an american lolol
This is high wage. 15m euro gross that almost 10m euro nett / season. Look at how struggle Real Madrid release their high wage player like bale, isco, hazard etc. For Serie A i think still better stick with 4-6m euro nett player salary. Player in the world especially europe increase every year while club still can only register 25 player , no need to overpay player beyond serie A reach
You’re slightly off I think. It’s a 50% tax in Italy. So 15m gross is 7.5m net. Then there is the growth decree which further reduces the tax by another 50%, so 3.75m at current rate. My guess is an offer in the range of 3-3.5m net could be enough and would be doable for the club even with the “wage cap”.
Bringing Berardi or Asensio on that right wing makes sense.
Gabriel or Wahi makes more sense
Lucas moura free agent. I still rate salesmakers to fight it out together. Focus the money on the striker. Go big on a striker
15M season???? LOL. NEXT. What about Hudson-Odoi? A much cheaper alternative for the RW. Also fits our youth policy and still has lots of upside. Could be a steal. Still makes a high salary (6.2M) but he had a down year and a small pay cut to 4m may not be a stretch vs Pulsic at 15M trying to get him to take 4M season – will never happen.
Cut & paste: It’s a 50% tax in Italy. So 15m gross is 7.5m net. Then there is the growth decree which further reduces the tax by another 50%, so 3.75m at current rate. My guess is an offer in the range of 3-3.5m net could be enough and would be doable for the club even with the “wage cap”.
