Excellent away form and bad woodwork luck continue: All the key stats from Milan’s win over Roma

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan got back on track on Sunday night at the Stadio Olimpico by beating fellow top four hopefuls Roma 2-1.

Franck Kessie’s penalty after Davide Calabria was stamped on gave Milan a lead going into the break, but Jordan Veretout levelled early in the second half with an excellent curling shot. That would not be enough for the Giallorossi to earn a point though as Ante Rebic’s precise left-footed shot inside the far post proved to be enough for the points to travel back to Milan.

Below are the best stats from the game, courtesy of Milan’s official website

➤ Milan have won 13 of their first 19 games away from home this season in all competitions (D4, L2) in their history, the Rossoneri only took fewer matches to reach 13 away wins in 1992-93, under Fabio Capello (15).

➤ No player has scored more penalties than Franck Kessie (seven) in one of Europe’s ‘top five’ leagues this season, level with Bruno Fernandes, Ben Yedder and Depay.

➤ The Ivorian has also set a personal best for goals in a single Serie A season (eight).

➤ Milan have hit the woodwork more times than any other team in the league this season (16, double that of Roma).

➤ Simon Kjaer has hit the woodwork three times in Serie A this season; the only defender to have hit the woodwork more times in Europe’s Top-5 leagues this season is Everton’s Lucas Digne.

➤ Ante Rebić is the fourth Milan player with 5+ goals scored in the current Serie A season: only Napoli have more.

➤ The Croat has scored four goals in his last four Serie A appearances, as many as he managed in his previous 21.

➤ Rafael Leão has made his 50th appearance in Serie A.
