Official: FIGC delay kick-off in Milan-Udinese in protest towards Ukraine situation

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s game against Udinese tonight at San Siro will kick off five minutes later than originally planned as part of a league-wide protest.

According to Pietro Mazzara of MilanNews, Milan’s home match against Udinese will kick-off at 18:50 CET tonight and not 18:45 as originally planned. Italian football’s governing body – the FIGC – have delayed the weekend games by 5 minutes each as a form of protest against the situation in Ukraine.

The BBC are reporting among other sources that Russian forces have launched a military assault on their neighbours Ukraine and as part of it they are bombing targets near big cities, after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered attacks on Ukrainian military targets.

The sources state that civilians are believed to have been killed as part of the shelling that has taken place while Ukrainian presidential adviser said that more than 40 soldiers had died and dozens more were wounded in what is a grave situation.
