In the past few weeks, Massimiliano Allegri has been linked to the vacant Italy national team role and today, the biggest link yet could have been made.

Recently, whenever the Italian national team job has been discussed, Allegri’s name has not been far behind. It could be a very different situation. However, he has never killed the rumours despite having several opportunities to do so.
A frustrating situation for fans, press conferences have been filled with the links and the Italian has never once reassured fans or the club that he will be the manager next season. He may have just been playing the media game.
Yet, there is a time and a place to confirm confidence and he has not done that.
Allegri is a wanted man
Thinking to a recent press conference, he was asked about the situation and his response was telling.
“Before the coach, they will have to decide who the president is. Then, after that, they will decide”.
Well, now the next step may be made. Giovanni Malagò is expected to be the new FIGC president with voting underway and Daniele Longo (via Milan Posts on X) reports that he wants Allegri to be the new coach.
Given that the 58-year-old stated that the president had to be decided first, if the president wants him, it will be interesting to see what his response will be.
