Longo: FIGC president to be wants Allegri as Italy’s next coach – the situation

In the past few weeks, Massimiliano Allegri has been linked to the vacant Italy national team role and today, the biggest link yet could have been made.

Recently, whenever the Italian national team job has been discussed, Allegri’s name has not been far behind. It could be a very different situation. However, he has never killed the rumours despite having several opportunities to do so.

A frustrating situation for fans, press conferences have been filled with the links and the Italian has never once reassured fans or the club that he will be the manager next season. He may have just been playing the media game.

Yet, there is a time and a place to confirm confidence and he has not done that.

Allegri is a wanted man

Thinking to a recent press conference, he was asked about the situation and his response was telling.

“Before the coach, they will have to decide who the president is. Then, after that, they will decide”.

Well, now the next step may be made. Giovanni Malagò is expected to be the new FIGC president with voting underway and Daniele Longo (via Milan Posts on X) reports that he wants Allegri to be the new coach.

Given that the 58-year-old stated that the president had to be decided first, if the president wants him, it will be interesting to see what his response will be.

  1. I think Milan owes the national team for not providing them any players worthy to play for the NT. To make up for that, Milan should let the NT have the great Allegri

    1. We can also gift them some fans like you. What do you say? It would be refreshing, and Italy is even better to complain than Milan.

      1. I am not a fan of the Italy national team.
If you didn’t get the sarcasm, thats why I want them to have this dinosaur coach. He’ll fit right in

        1. ? You can’t misunderstand what I wrote. I mean you shouldn’t be able to, but you can. Incredible how daft you are.

    2. What a ridiculous comment. Italy don’t have good players that’s why they failed to qualify against weaker teams in 3 consecutive WC. That has nothing do with Milan. Smh

      1. It has everything to do with Milan and all the other Italian teams. It’s their responsibility to develop the players for their country and they don’t do this. So yes it has a lot to do with Milan. If you can’t understand this maybe football isn’t for you.

  2. Even if we qualify for champions league I hope Allegri leaves. His playing style is just painful to watch. Get Maresca and build a project worthy of Milan.

    1. aaand here is the comment i was expecting. I was expecting the pendulum to swing back next season. Nothing against you H but to me it is a bit tiring. I know Allegri’s style is not flashy. Everyone knows it. But year 1 and we are in the top 4 arent we? This always happens. Say they fire Allegri, who do you realistically think they will get ? Not Pep, not Klopp, not Carlo. They will get — to your point — an offensive guy. Someone that can play “expansive” “entertaining futbol”. So the pendulum swings back and we get your boy, Fonseca (or someone like him). And sure, last season was “fun”. We did score a ton of goals, we saw the “fab 4” play. At the same time, we conceded so many goals we ended up 8… not 1st or 2nd or even 4th.. we finished 8 . Fans will then complain how we are not even in europe, how we cant keep a clean sheet etc etc etc.. and we end up back with someone like Allegri. So, unless we get a pep, a klopp etc, I’ve been a fan for way too long and i can say defense wins championships. I’ll take Allegri’s 1-0 over Fonseca’s 2-4 losses any day…. end of rant

  3. Marotta is trying to destroy Milan now, they own stadium together, why he wants to destroy Milan so much?! Allegri is Milan coach and should be respected that Allergri has a contact with Milan!!
