AC Milan are continuing their search for a new sporting director and time could be of the essence, given how much work there is to do.
Almost all major sources are reporting that there was a four-hour long meeting in Rome between the CEO Giorgio Furlani and Igli Tare yesterday, who is one of the candidates being considered for the vacant position.
According to Sky (as seen below), one meeting is not enough to talk about the finish line being reached, but it was certainly a positive and lengthy discussion between the two, and further contacts are likely to follow.
The broadcaster speaks about the five main tasks that the new sporting director will have to tackle, and the top priority will be to choose the head coach given the impact that will have on other decisions.
Then, there will be some complicated renewals to tackle, such as Theo Hernandez and Mike Maignan who have deals that run out in June 2026. There could well be a big sacrifice needed in terms of a potential sale, given the lack of Champions League revenues.
Then, there will be the choice of the future centre-forward. Santiago Gimenez was a €30m+ investment in the winter transfer window but he is struggling for form, so another purchase cannot be ruled out. Finally, there is a ‘defence to rebuild’ given how many goals have been let in.
Do we really need to make a big sacrifice?
I don’t think so but it don’t know how Cardinale sees it. I mean Milan is still making + money so it’s not really needed but hey could look at it different like they lost so much money without CL and they want it back idk.
“Finally, there is a ‘defence to rebuild’ given how many goals have been let in.”
Well… Most of the defenders we started with this season had won the scudetto and Walker has plenty of trophies too. The issue wasn’t 100% on the defenders but the lack of defensive effort by the midfield and certain attackers. At the end of the day it’s still a team sport.
Also the lack of tactics (in both ends of the pitch) has contributed to the dreadful results.
Media can’t help but flirt with the idea of a big sale w/o CL. If Tare comes in, I hope he focuses on the sales first, especially the loaned out players. Then gauge the income and see if you do have to sell a veteran.
Uhh……midfield??
And are we already giving up on Gimenez as the striker of the future? He’s like 23.
And if so then whoever called that shot needs to go.
They just won’t get it with their thick heads and overblown egos. It’s midfield that is non existent.
Sadly you left out a very urgent and important task – KICKING FURLANI AWAY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. He is hopeless, useless, incapable and worthless. He is indecisive, cannot take decisions and has no feeling for soccer. His only interest is $$$$$$$ for his master.
