Santiago Gimenez is going to undergo a course of treatment on his problematic ankle, and will be out for over a month.
Earlier today, Gimenez posted on his Instagram profile to update fans on his condition, and he claimed that he has actually been playing with an injury for months now.

“For several months I’ve been playing with an ankle injury that hasn’t allowed me to be 100% fit or comfortable on the pitch,” he said.
“With determination, I continued to help the team and I continued to play, but the pain increased: the time has come to stop. Now I must focus on recovery and prepare to be back with you as soon as possible. God is in control. Thank you for your support, see you soon!”
Five-week absence expected
According to ESPN Deportes, Gimenez will not be with the Mexican national team during the November break. He has already been ruled out due to an ankle injury he has been suffering from for some time, and he is set to begin a five-week course of treatment on his ankle.
Looking at the fixture list, five weeks from today would mean that Gimenez misses games against Parma, Inter, Lazio (both in the league and in the cup) and Torino almost certainly.
The game that might be circled in red is Sassuolo at San Siro on 14 December. However, given the sensitivity of the ankle area, he will not be rushed back. Milan must hope that the others provide goals in the meantime, and Christian Pulisic’s return will be a big boost.
So… He might end up getting shipped out in January with 0 goals scored this season. No one will pay good money for him though. Loan + option to buy is the only option and none of the clubs are willing to pay +20M€ for him. Money down the drain. Again.
I think fans need to take him at his word and allow him to recuperate and play again before judging. Absolutely no point in Milan selling him at a loss or loaning him in January; just get another forward in.
I’m sure once Santi gets his first goal more will follow. But Mr. Tare had already rented a moving van for him in September and is eager to ship him out so I don’t think he has any chance of staying. Even if he scored 10 goals before the next transfer window.
