Florenzi ‘grateful’ after permanent move but insists Milan must ‘turn the page’ after Scudetto

By Oliver Fisher -

Alessandro Florenzi has expressed his gratitude to the AC Milan management for making his initial loan from Roma into a permanent deal.

It was back on the first day of this month that Milan officially announced the permanent signing of Florenzi, who joined the club on an initial loan deal last summer from the Giallorossi, and the news was expected considering the Italian veteran’s performances this past season.

Florenzi played quite a lot for Milan in the 2021-22 season despite suffering from two knee injuries that needed minor surgery, and he impressed while on the pitch having been given a number of roles, including right winger, right-back and even left-back.

It’s not exactly a surprise, therefore, that the management wanted to keep him and all of his experience. Florenzi was interviewed by SportMediaset during Milan’s training camp in Austria, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

On the Scudetto: “It was a great emotion for everyone, the fans had been waiting for this moment for a long time. It was important for many of us, but now we have to turn the page to try to write other important pages for Milan.”

On being a now permanent Milan player: “I am grateful to Milan for what they have done for me. This club will always have the utmost respect from me on and off the pitch.”

On Yacine Adli: “Adli is a young prospect, he will be able to give us a great hand. He will have to put in mind what the coach wants and always give his best.”

  1. “It was important for many of us, but now we have to turn the page to try to write other important pages for Milan.”-seems like he has the right mentality.

“I am grateful to Milan for what they have done for me. This club will always have the utmost respect from me on and off the pitch.” -i remember seeing footage of him coming onto the pitch looking like he was about to murder chalanoglu after that penalty celebration in front of fans… what more respect can we ask for?

Still, you have to ask why is it so difficult to attract players to AC Milan after they just won Italian title? How many weeks have gone by and you have rumours of interests but NO CONFIRMATION from anyone and LITTLE CONCRETE MOVES.

In addition, the club lets two first team starters loose for free for the second season in a row, is interested in buying injured players, sends a youth product away, renews contract of a 40 year old striker, and is slowly making some kind of process with profiles who stall. The only good thing you can suppose is being able to keep the other players in the current squad. But as I always say, trust the management to do their job because they are paid to run the company. Fans don’t know s-h-i-t-t, only talk big on the keyboard.

    1. Two first team starters? Who?

      – Romagnoli – already 4th choice CB at Milan at his point of departure, behind Tomori, Kalulu, and Kjaer (bar injury).

      – Kessie – arguably, he is not a guarantee starting eleven anyway – he is behind Tonali and Bennacer (bar injury), his recent weeks’ starting position was for Attacking Mid role. Beside we already got Pobega and Adli – our mid currently is almost the same, or even slightly better than last season.

      – Donnarumma – who? Maignan is better anyway.

Well jokes aside, those things you mentioned already gave us Scudetto – those are the right step for us – maybe not the best, but with the amount of money we own it’s hard to do better. So just be patient.
