SM: Florenzi played for 14 minutes after suffering injury against Bologna

By Mitchell Wilks -

Alessandro Florenzi played for a further 14 minutes against Bologna after suffering a knee injury that now requires surgery, according to a report.

The 31-year-old was introduced after 75 minutes had been played in an attempt to rescue the game for Milan, which ended in a disappointing 0-0 draw.

SempreMilan.it state that Florenzi suffered the injury to his knee in the 85th minute, but was left to play on for the remainder of the game, which saw eight minutes of injury time added on.

While the call was a brave one, Florenzi’s swollen knee and Milan’s decision to keep him on the field has proven even more damaging, with the right back now set to undergo surgery to fix a lesion of the internal meniscus.

Recovery time remains unknown, to the detriment of head coach Stefano Pioli, who values Florenzi’s contributions highly. Milan are still expected to make his signing a permanent one.
