AC Milan have confirmed that Alessandro Florenzi had a successful operation on his knee today after he recently sustained an injury.

On their official website, Milan have confirmed that Florenzi today underwent an arthroscopic operation on his left knee, conducted by Dr Piero Paolo Mariani. The meniscectomy was done with Rossoneri club doctor Lucio Genesio in attendance and was successful.

The 31-year-old will commence the rehabilitation process right away, with the hope of being able to potentially play a part in the season finale given that the recovery time – as per multiple reports – should be around one month.

Florenzi sustained the problem during Monday night’s frustrating home draw against Bologna during which he came on for Davide Calabria. Now, Calabria will be a guaranteed starter until Florenzi comes back and it remains to be seen what Pioli has in mind regarding who will be the back-up on the right side of defence.
