Newcastle United have started talks with Fikayo Tomori’s entourage over a potential move there this summer, according to a report.
Football Insider claim that the Newcastle management have reached out to Tomori’s agents to try and test the waters to see if he would be at all keen to make the switch to St James’ Park ahead of next season.
The 26-year-old joined Milan on an initial loan deal from Chelsea during the 2020-21 winter transfer window and then signed permanently six months later, and he established himself as one of the best centre-backs in Serie A during the Scudetto-winning season.
Newcastle want another centre-back after announcing they will welcome Lloyd Kelly once his Bournemouth contract expires at the end of this month, and they have set their sights on Tomori who is under contract with the Rossoneri until 2027.
With Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles having suffered injury problems during the last season they feel another option is needed. Tomori continues to be snubbed by England and thus a return to the Premier League may tempt him, while Newcastle saw him first hand in the Champions League group stages last season.
A recent report from Calciomercato.com claimed that Tomori is determined to keep developing at Milan and that he will also be a key player in Paulo Fonseca’s side, implying that there is no real possibility of him moving anywhere this summer.
Must’ve been tempting for Tomori now. This might be up his chances to play for three lions in World Cup 26.
I would only sell him if one of or both of Scalvini and Buongiorno were guaranteed!!!
Not for nobody’s from France or Germany
Both of them would be nice
Yeah
Sell him and buy Bongiourno and Hummels on a free… solid defense
If any truth to it it makes sense all around:
He’s being criminally overlooked by the England manager and this might be his chance.
For Newcastle it’s a CB who’s played at a top level, knows the language and the league.
For Milan it’s a chance to make some hefty income and reinvest it in the next generation of defence.
Yes, it’s interesting. Transfermarkt says he’s worth 40M right now, I bet we could get 45M. This would neatly equal the amount being requested for Buongiorno. Then bring in Buongiorno and sign Hummels on a free to “replace” Kjaer. Starting LCB Buongiorno, starting RCB the best from Hummels/Gabbia/Thiaw. The risk is that our CB pairing might be completely new and thus take time to gel.
Absolutely, its all price dependent. Not trying to play FM2024 here but if we can sell Tomori for €50mn (Newcastle have FFP issues but apparently will sell Bruno Guimares or Isak for close to €100mn)
Then we will have enough to replace him directly with Buongiorno, without denting our existing transfer budget. So that CB money can be saved by extending Simic contract and then… if he recovers well from injury, signing Scalvini in winter or next summer.
It’s a long shot but moving those chess pieces around could set us up for a reliable Italian CB partnership for the next 5 years. It’s no Nesta+Maldini but I’d be very happy with Buongiorno+Scalvini at the heart of our defense
Current manager will leave his Job after euros. Main problem is his colour not where he is playing.
If the manager is someone like Didier Deschamps(French manager), he will play every match for England.
Milan have only tomori and Kalulu who are very fast. As Kalulu is returning from injury, Tomori is only option as of now who can highline for Paulo Fonseca system.
Especially Fonseca plays only CB at the back when in possession and 1DM in front of them.
This is not option to sell at this moment.
We must bring new CB and if someone is playing at his level, we an sell tomori especially he have less salary at the moment with 3years of contract.
*2CB at the back and 1dm in front of them while in ball possession
Given how many black players Southgate picked for the U21s and how many start for England, the idea that Tomori isn’t selected because he’s black is nonsense. He isn’t selected because Southgate doesn’t rate Serie A. Tomori didn’t do himself any favours when selected either. He wasn’t exactly brilliant.
Replacements coming in from France and Germany lololol… Scalvini and Buongiorno please and then Tomori can leave.
PPl keep saying this name or that name and dont even know if a player is injured like Scalvini. Buong plays in a back 3 so a back 4 could be a challenge. He is also not worth what torino wants.
55-60 mil euros and Tomori it’s yours. Put the cash on the table. We can replace him with Buongiorno plus Lacroix (Hummels). We can promote Simic to first team as a 5-th central defender. Tomori is a good guy but he makes to many mistakes. If he stays I’m ok with that but we need a strong central defensive midfielder to protect our defense properly.
Other than more money, I don’t see why Timori to Newcastle, which’s not playing European football at all next year. A move to Newcastle doesn’t guarantee a call up for England given who he has to compete against for a spot.
He had a poor season by his high standards but he is our best CB. Everyone has a price, if they offer 60m then it should be considered as we can use that to sign scalvini. Otherwise under Fonseca and with Ricardo Ferriera being the defensive coach he will do much better next season.
better than Maguire so 150m
Buongiorno, you all here are dreaming. Half of Italy want him and Milan don’t do bidding wars. Unless he expressed an explicit interest in coming to Milan, it ain’t happening.
Unless we don’t get Zirkzee, we might have an extra ~€30m to spend depending on who else we go for. Juventus and Inter don’t have budget, we actually have more to spend than anyone now I think.
After the season Tomori had, he didn’t earn the call-up. He started really strong but got derailed by injuries and form issues. If he plays to his abilities he’ll be on the England squad again soon, on-form he’s right up there with the best. Liquid pace and so good in all facets of the game. We should keep him, I think he’ll have a great season next year.
We could charge extra for him like they do with English players in the PL. They charge insane sums for players there.
We shouldn’t look at it the way we do in Serie A.
Having said that, if we can get more PL clubs interested the price can go up and we can buy better players.
100M€ and he can go. Look at what ManU paid for Maguire. 🙂
