Footmercato: Milan table €10m bid for FC Metz sensation with Maldini leading talks

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are interested in signing FC Metz forward Georges Mikautadze and have even tabled a bid, according to a report.

According to Footmercato, there is a chance that Mikautadze leaves Metz this summer after a season in which he shone in Ligue 2. He has been nominated for player of the year in the French second division having scored 24 goals and amassed eight assists in 36 appearances in all competitions.

His qualities and his attacking output have understandably caught the eye of some clubs who are testing the water ahead of the summer window, and Milan are among them.

The source claims that the Rossoneri have made ‘good progress’ in the negotiations and have even sent an offer with €10m. Paolo Maldini spoke several times with the player, who could be loaned back to Metz in the event they are promoted to Ligue 2.

However, newly-promoted Burnley under head coach Vincent Kompany are also convinced by the talent of the 22-year-old.

    1. Maybe that’s where the best value is these days. What is actually troubling is the fact that we may be competing with a second division side (albeit just promoted to the PL) for the signature of a second division player.

      1. Teams who get promoted into Prem from Championship get like 150m euros for doing so. More if they win the Championship. These are the absurd figures that we have to compete with vs the Prem.
Leeds, Leciester and Everton have the same or more revenuea than us. They all currently sit near the bottom of the Prem table battling to stay up….

    2. Our chief scout is from france. As a result he will look into the french market because his expertise is in the french market. Also in an interview Moncada stated that they prefer to look in the french market because it is not expenseive like the brazilian market.

    1. It is not a bad move at all we get him for 10 12 mil he stay for one more year and develops and we will get him in 24/25 a very smart move

  1. This is smart business and Milan need to look at these 2nd division English league, Ligue 2 and Segunda league in Spain.

There are top talents there. By them cheap then loan them out to a team in the first division so that they can develop more because our youth project players in the primavera is not good enough competition for these youngsters to jump to the first team.

  2. As someone who does watch Ligue 2 (from Bordeaux and Girondin supporter), I can confirm that this man is VERY good. He is strong, has outstanding balance, can hold the ball, and is full of ambition. Don’t let his current club’s position fool you.

  3. This is good Sign even if not the best het got me surprised when watched.
What Supper striker he is, just he is like Cheva Goal.
He and the PSV Striker are best ones.
Plus the league 1 is tough league.
And is the best players’ sources in Erupe

    1. So management must quick sign this young gun asap before other club’s bid we know the outcome if we’re in bidding war unless he’s charmed by maldini’s talk reacking verbal agreement

  4. As a Georgian who has been following him both in the national team and Metz, I feel bound to say that he would be a great investment with a lot of potential for growth. Whether we can have him as our main striker right from the start is another question.

      1. He is primarily a striker, but can be deployed on the wings as well. He is really quick and has a really good finish.

        1. Thanks for the info. I always appreciate what I saw in Kaladze and Kvaratskhelia. Georgian talents are very underrated.

  5. I don’t like the feeling of them wanting to losn him back. That’s what they did with Adli and look where that got him. I totally lost season coming to Milan and 10 million down the drain for Milan. We shouln’t just buy players to hope they will become better. Buy them if we can use them now. Not in the future as a maybe.

    1. When Milan has a budget like Chelsea, they will buy ready-made first-class players of at least 50 million euros each!

    1. Are you serious, this striker is better than Giroud. watch his videos. he can score, dribble, play as a winger and he is young, and will likely get better. sign ASAP !!!

  6. Why would we buy a 22 year old and loan him back? We need him now, and what is he going to learn at his current club at the age of 22 that he wont learn with us? Plus we will have used the money we have on a player who will still be playing for someone else.

  7. THIS player is really good! A mix of Hazard and Cassano. Big words i know but he is that good!
He have also played in Lyon when he was a kid together with..none other than our own kalulu!
