AC Milan and Andoni Iraola had face-to-face talks regarding a possible journey together, though they didn’t go very well.

After Massimiliano Allegri’s dismissal, Gerry Cardinale and Zlatan Ibrahimovic immediately had a clear idea of who they wanted to replace him. Iraola is coming off a fantastic season at Bournemouth in which he secured them European football for the first time, but also announced he would leave.

However, the Basque coach has stalled and it seems that talks are now not progressing at all, at least based on reports from various reliable sources. It was thought that he had decided to join Crystal Palace, but now it appears he is waiting for something a bit more ambitious.

This morning, La Repubblica (via MilanNews) have revealed some of the details from the first meeting Iraola had with Milan in London two weeks ago.

The newspaper claim that it lasted over five hours. In the talks, the two sides discussed the possible formation, the transfer business to be done and the atmosphere in which he would be welcomed in Milan.

The initial enthusiasm was dampened by the resistance of the former Rayo Vallecano coach, who is reluctant to leave the Premier League. Not only that, but his family are pushing for him to stay in London, where they live.

  1. Initial enthusiasm?😂 Not a single sane Milan fan believed he would agree to join the circus, you can read the comments from the last 48 hours. The guy right now is probably still laughing and telling his friends how ridiculous the meeting was, with Zlatan’s promise to support him (brought on as something special that doesn’t happen in other clubs) being a highlight of the comedy.

      1. He probably spoke to them for 5 hours out of courtesy, if he won’t have other options Milan might be one. That is how it seems. Nobody is stupid to close any doors on themselves before being certain of another path.

    1. because we all know every Milan fan is like you who thinks Bayer Leverkusen will offer him more

Most of your friends is probably laughing at you, always pretending to support a football club that you just trash 90% of the time, with supporters like you, who needs rivals?

      1. Only a mo*on would trust and support Redbird after 4 failed years…You are one so I understand your point.

          1. No, stupid people and lunatics do that. Basically you are “getting behind” the guy that 2 years ago said he is in charge, lead one of the worst transfer windows ever and now is pretending it didn’t happen. It was someone elses fault even though he publicly said Milan needs a coach like Fonseca, how good he is and so on. Are you stupid? Fans get behind their club, not the clowns that currently run it. If they weren’t failing for the 4th season in a row it would be a different story.

          2. I hope you’re also grateful to God. He saved poor Zlatan from the horrible Swedish ghetto he keeps talking about. Barely survived.

If they use an algorithm to pick it will do better than Zlatan or Cardinale. So I hope they have someone that will tell them who to go for.

          3. Right… so…. If i’ve touched a hot oven 4 times in a row and burned myself each time, I just have to believe that the fifth time I touch the same hot oven, it won’t give me a 3rd degree burn…

That’s an exceptionally high IQ thinking there. I think you’re too smart for these threads.

      2. So much projection and desperation. I do agree with you on one point, though, we haven’t been needing rivals ever since they (the rivals) fired Maldini in 2023. Not a single dirty thing Inter and Juventus have done in the past (and they’ve done plenty) can even compare to the damage that your bosses have caused.

        1. Keep the Milan hate up, it clearly fuels your daily life

Time for you to go to your true love Inter

  2. Hmm sounds like the guy’s family is the real reason. Kinda like how Theo’s family loving life in Milan made it really hard for him to leave…
