SM: Former Rossonere striker says Milan is a ‘very good club’

Former AC Milan Women striker Deborah Salvatori Rinaldi has said that Milan is a very good club and discussed the overall rising quality in Serie A Femminile.

Rinaldi was speaking during an inclusive interview with our colleagues at SempreMilan.it about Maurizio Ganz’s side and her time with the Rossonere.

The striker left Milan in the summer of 2021 and she is now playing in Serie B with Ternana. She discussed her thoughts on the women’s team at Milan and the overall level of Serie A Femminile right now which is in its first professional season.

“Milan is a very good club, but today there are many other competitive teams, I think the secret is to create a team that can maintain consistency. Working with a lot of changes in the squad every year is not impossible, but in fact very complicated to get quick results,” Rinaldi said.

Whilst with Milan, Rinaldi got the chance to play at San Siro and she spoke with pride about the opportunity to play in such a historic stadium.

“San Siro is magical. We played at the Meazza against Juve and that too is part of a truly indelible memory. A memory that I dedicate to little dreaming me,” she said.

“Playing in stadiums with a larger capacity but above all with pitches in optimal condition I would say that this is also an inevitable step that we will get to, but first we need to fill even the small ones.

“The quality of the game and the players is growing, the fans will grow too I am sure.”

Rinaldi managed to score in the first-ever women’s Derby della Madonnina against Inter and she said that it is something that she will never forget.

“I remember that day very well, I could never forget the first Derby della Madonnina and the atmosphere that was there. Now it’s nothing new to see matches like that, but that year we knew we were playing a match that would go down in history,” Rinaldi said.

“From the retreat to the day after, everything was amplified. The emotions were really incredible. It was also the coach’s birthday and we earned the celebration on the pitch. It was supposed to be a good day and we made sure it was.

“I always joke like this ‘in life you always put your head in it, maybe one day you’ll score under the curva’ but in reality it’s a concept I seriously believe in.”
