Free agent frenzy: Why Milan must be careful despite tempting list

As often happens when AC Milan go through a tough patch, there is talk that Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri must lose their jobs.

There is a huge inherent risk in demanding profound revolutions every summer. Last year, it was necessary to approach it in a purge mode after finishing eighth. Yet, the planning for next season must try and leverage some more stability.

That planning phase is already underway, with Milan hoping to have Champions League football as an added point of appeal. There are various free agents who might fancy playing at San Siro and trying to assist in the revival of a fallen giant.

It’s increasingly common across Europe for players over 30 to have their contracts expire, even if they’re well-known and still have a lot to contribute to the sport, like you can gamble on the action with Jumba Bet no deposit bonus.

Excluding those who opt for exotic choices, such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar or the USA, there will remain those who still want to demonstrate that they can be protagonists on our continent, and perhaps enjoy our country before Serie A.

The main names

The most high-profile names are probably those of Andy Robertson, Mo Salah, Bernardo Silva, Leon Goretzka , Raphael Guerreiro, Kieran Trippier, John Stones, Franck Kessie, Antonio Rudiger, Marcelo Brozovic, Robert Lewandowski and Casemiro. There are Dusan Vlahovic and Paulo Dybala in Serie A, too.

It is a list undoubtedly rich in quality, with many players who might like the chance to give Italian football a try, just as Luka Modric did. Some of these have already been linked to the Rossoneri for some time, but off-season rumours can only be trusted up to a certain point.

Certainly, some of these players could be a significant help to a group like the current one at Milan. Modric and Adrien Rabiot arrived last summer to add some experience but the feeling is that some more leadership is needed.

A head coach like Massimiliano Allegri pulling the strings means that there will likely be a request to add more players who know how to win. But Milan must be careful not to get too greedy, because not everyone is like Modric, a professional who will put 100% into every game.

As is pretty much always the case, the ideal would be a wise mix of experienced and youth, like with the Scudetto season. Milan must be careful not to get burned, like in the case of Divock Origi.
