One of Stefano Pioli’s friends has revealed that the AC Milan head coach spoke to him about the possibility of signing two forwards.
La Gazzetta dello Sport have published a report in which they caught up with Pioli while he is on his well-earned summer vacation ahead of the 2022-23 season, but as part of it they also managed to speak to some people close to him.
One of those people is his good friend Andrea, who it seems Pioli speaks to about a number of things related to his work including which players might come in to strengthen the squad available to him.
“Last year the coach [Pioli] talked to me about Messias and he actually arrived at Milan. However, we also spoke about De Paul who didn’t arrive,” he revealed.
De Paul was heavily linked with a move to Milan over the summer window of 2021 but they ended up being beaten to the deal by Atletico Madrid. The Rossoneri faced him as an opponent in the Champions League, but he managed just 3 goals and 1 assist in the league, not really living up to his fee thus far.
Rodrigo DePaul is a very good player, he would have been great at Milan.
His stats at Atletico look bad because he plays for a coach who defends for 85 minutes of the games
