AC Milan are reportedly looking at the potential signing of three free agent central defenders to boost their squad depth.
According to the Hamburger Morgenpost, the Milan management are very worried about the current defensive situation given that Mateo Musacchio is not yet back from ankle surgery, Matteo Gabbia has COVID-19 and Leo Duarte has only just returned.
The report adds that Paolo Maldini and co. are examining options to bolster the rearguard outside of the mercato, with Ezequiel Garay (most recently at Valencia CF) and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa (most recently at Olympique Lyon) considered, but no serious interest generated.
Instead, Kyriakos Papadopoulos is a target despire the fact his last game for Hamburg was over a year ago in a 3-0 win against Hannover 96, during which he got 14 minutes of playing time.
He already turned down four offers in the winter in hope of getting the right move for his future, but he is not the only defender that Milan are looking at.
In addition there is Léo Lacroix (last of Saint-Étienne) and Jozo Simunovic (who contract with Celtic was not extended).
