From Spain: Milan want to sign €20m-rated Ajax defender to replace Musacchio

AC Milan are interested in signing Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez in the January transfer window, according to a report.

The Rossoneri secured the signing of Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea on Friday night but he is on loan with an option to buy which is set close to €30m, meaning it is not guaranteed that the club will exercise it.

According to Spanish outlet TF, Milan intend to sign another defender to reinforce the back line as Mateo Musacchio is close to following Leo Duarte out of the exit door, and his replacement would be Lisandro Martínez of Ajax.

The Argentine has a contract until 2023 with the Amsterdam club, but the Rossoneri management have started talks to try to bring him in and bolster the numbers in the rearguard.

The player’s market value is €20m, but Milan want to pay that sum next summer after first securing a loan, something that does not entice Ajax. In any case, Milan could try and pre-agree a deal for the 23-year-old to get him for next season.
