From Spain: Playmaker gives approval to Milan as Arsenal look to rip up €385k-a-week deal

By Oliver Fisher -

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has reportedly given the green light to join AC Milan and he could arrive as a free agent.

Ozil arrived at Arsenal seven years ago from Real Madrid and has amassed 44 goals and 77 assists in 254 appearances across all competitions for the Gunners, but the club are not considering renewing his €385k-a-week contract, and as per the Daily Mail.

In fact, Spanish outlet TodoFichajes are reporting that Arsenal are now even negotiating the contract termination with Özil. The Gunners tried to sell him in the summer, but no team was willing to take on his high salary, so now they are looking to essentially get him off the books.

The report adds that Milan have maintained contacts with the player’s entourage to try and gauge his willingness regarding a new experience in Italy.

They add that Milan will probably lose Hakan Çalhanoğlu and the experience and quality of the German international would fit perfectly. Özil meanwhile has already said yes to joining Milan and now simple needs to resolve his dispute with Arsenal.
