From Spain: Real Madrid want Liverpool man as Pogba alternative – Milan and Barcelona also keen

AC Milan are one of a number of top clubs in the running to land Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, according to a report from Spain.

The Dutchman has entered the final year of the five-year deal he penned at Anfield, and there seems to be no movement over his future despite his importance to Jurgen Klopp.

According to Spanish outlet TF, a number of elite European clubs have begun to monitor developments, the latest of which is Real Madrid who are looking for a replacement for Casemiro.

Wijnaldum was one step away from signing for Barcelona last summer and has apparently rejected Liverpool’s first renewal offer, so as it stands he can sign a pre-contract with a team from abroad in January.

The report mentions that both Milan clubs want to sign the Dutchman, but Real president Florentino Pérez wants to close a deal for the former Newcastle man in January to prevent other clubs from signing him.

Zinedine Zidane still wants Paul Pogba, but it is an idea that the Real Madrid board continue to reject because of costs. Wijnaldum would be happy to play for any of the clubs linked as he wants to feel at the centre of a project and important in the squad.
