From Spain: Star Milan defender makes preference clear as Real Madrid and Barcelona circle

By Oliver Fisher -

Two of Europe’s top clubs are circling as AC Milan look to resolve the future of star defender Alessio Romagnoli, according to a report.

Back on 5 June 2018 Romagnoli signed a contract renewal until June 2022, meaning that the former Roma man is within two years of the expiration of his deal.

Milan want to avoid another situation like the one they are facing with Donnarumma and Calhanoglu, where they are faced with the risk of losing two stars for free unless they agree a deal and fast.

The negotiations with agent Mino Raiola for Romagnoli’s renewal promise to be anything but simple, and Spanish outlet TodoFichajes suggest that two clubs are keeping an eye on the situation.

They claim that Barcelona and Real Madrid are watching on and would be interested in a move if talks break down, but negotiations have begun and the player wants to pen a new deal until 2025 and secure a pay rise in the process.
