Gallery: ‘Boniface to Milan’, ‘Won’t give up on Vlahovic’ – Today’s front pages in Italy

The front pages of the newspapers in Italy this morning are dominated by the fact AC Milan’s striker hunt may finally be ending.

Various reports broke on Wednesday claiming there had been a strong acceleration on the part of the Milan management for Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface. By the evening, there was talk of a loan with option to buy (set at €30m) operation ready to be closed.

The newspapers this morning have focused a lot on the Rossoneri’s pivot to the Nigerian striker, and what it might mean for Napoli who also want a centre-forward.

La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Milan: the reserve number 9. Hojlund says no: Boniface is the fall-back. The Dane refuses any loan offer (Napoli will now try too). Doubts about the Leverkusen striker.”

Corriere dello Sport: “Boniface displaces them. Milan surprise. Tare chooses the Nigerian from Leverkusen. Loan with option for the former Bayer player.”

Tuttosport: “Boniface to Milan. Hojlund to Conte. Tare reaches an agreement for the Nigerian Leverkusen player and won’t give up on Vlahovic.”

QS: “Milan rushing to sign Boniface. A turning point in the transfer market, with coach Gattuso visiting yesterday.”

  1. So the idea is that Milan get Vlahovic for free and Boniface is the cheap loan solution for this season? And if he scores 25 goals they’ll buy him.

  2. If it is in fact loan with option set at 30 mil then it is a good deal. I prefer Boniface over extremely overpriced Hojlund.

  3. I cannot say that i am an excellent connoisseur of the Bayer team, and i do not know who else they have in the attacker’s position, but i wonder why they give him so easily on loan with a possible purchase !?

    1. They literally have 20 healthy players (+5 with muscle injuries/ACL/ Achilles rupture. Basically they have Schick and that’s it for ST position. So it is strange, but it seems like they have opened a garage sale this summer. I still remember 5-6 weeks ago when they said they don’t want to sell Xhaka, because they already sold too many key players. Well, several transfers including him and now Boniface, since that statement.

  4. If they keep Gimenez that’s awesome

Boniface is loaned player so he can keep bench, hopefully Gimenez to become strong CF and there is Rafa as CF in case of emergency.

Milan in next season only needs hopefully, strong Centre Back

  5. Boniface is a good choice barring any physical issues, tho I’d try swap with Atalanta Musah-Lookman + cash since Boniface is on loan and we have the cash …
