AC Milan just about got the job done against Red Star last night, but this morning’s papers have focused on Paulo Fonseca’s outburst.
Milan made it four wins in a row in the Champions League by beating the Serbian side 2-1. Rafael Leao opened the scoring, Radonjic equalised in the second half and then Tammy Abraham netted a late winner.
The push for a top eight spot remains very much on with Girona (at home) and Dinamo Zagreb (away) still to come, but the fans left San Siro no doubt feeling more concerned if anything after another rough night.
Today’s front pages
As is perhaps to be expected after such strong comments, the Italian newspapers have mostly led with Fonseca’s post-match interview.
La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Fonseca: it’s a fury. Milan struggles against Red Star, the coach against his team. ‘I am disappointed, noe everyone gave the maximum’.”
Corriere dello Sport: “Leao-Abraham, Milan believe. Fonseca, three valuable points to chase down the top eight. Morata and Loftus-Cheek injured. Now Girona and Dinamo Zagreb.”
Tuttosport: “Milan, victory and venom. Fourth consecutive win in the Champions League, but the coach hits out: ‘I give it my all, I don’t know about the others’.”
Coach is not only about tactics, it’s about understanding the players’ characters, feeling the room, understanding what the team needs to be united and motivated, have a spirit, it’s about finding methods to get the best of the players, currently he failed it all.
City is turning into my guilty pleasure.
Fonseca tuvo problemas con Florenzi en la Roma, tuvo problemas con Theo Hernández y Leao, ahora con Calabria…
