AC Milan will head south to Naples next week with a one-goal first leg advantage after last night’s 1-0 victory in front of an incredible home crowd.
Ismael Bennacer got the only goal of the game towards the end of the first half with a well-taken first-time finish after a break started by Brahim Diaz, while Anguissa saw red in the second half for the away side who still came close to a leveller.

Below are how the Italian papers reacted to the game…
La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Lightning Milan. Bennacer-goal, but what a Napoli! #UCL show at San Siro: 1-0 with Kjaer hitting the bar. Spalletti close to equaliser down to 10 men (Anguissa sees red) and attacks the referee. On Tuesday the second leg.”
Corriere dello Sport: “It will be decided at the Maradona. Bennacer goal and Napoli hit the Maignan wall. The Rossoneri goalkeeper denies Di Lorenzo an equaliser. Kjaer and Elmas both hit the crossbar Anguissa sent off, Kim will also be suspended.”
Tuttosport: “Milan, like a babbà! A great Bennacer goal takes down Napoli. The Rossoneri light up San Siro and thank Maignan. Referee makes everyone angry. On Tuesday Napoli won’t have Anguissa (sent off), Kim and perhaps also Osimhen.”
