AC Milan are in need of a striker for the January window, but the one that arrives is unlikely to be the long-term number nine is seems.
Numerous sources have reported that Niclas Fullkrug was proposed to Milan given his struggles at West Ham. What has emerged since is that the management are seriously evaluating the possibility of signing him, given it would be a low-cost deal for a target man.

A short-term fix?
Looking at the recent numbers for the German, though, it is easy to see why he might not be considered the one to pin the future hopes of the attack on. He has scored just three times in 18 months at West Ham, and has missed long stretches due to physical issues.
According to Alfredo Pedulla for Football Italia, the signing of Füllkrug would mean that Milan ‘could postpone their search for the real new centre-forward until the summer’, more specifically targeting Juventus man Dusan Vlahovic.

The Serbian currently out with a serious muscle injury, but as recent rumours from Spain stated, the interest on Milan’s part after the summer links ‘never really died out’. Seeing as he will be out injured until at least March there will be no winter switch, but things remain very much alive for next June.
The Rossoneri hierarchy are hoping the great rapport between Max Allegri and Vlahovic ‘can swing his decision’, given that there will be strong competition to get the free agent.

Looks like we get him (füllkrug). Could be enough until summer…♥️🖤😘
Fullkrug is far from my choice but if he is only a stopgap solution on loan with an option until the summer that can give Gimenez some competition upfront and we then in the summer actually manages to get Vlahovic or Lewandowski then I would be perfectly fine with this solution.
So let me get this straight – Mr Fullkrug is utilized by the Hammers from the bench… he has 0 goals in the premier league this season… 0 assists… is always injured… the only other semi-interested clubs are Wolfsburg and Augsburg…… and management are telling me there’s no better stopgap available? Interesting…🤔
What better stop-gap option strikers are out there?
I don’t know I’m not a scout- but off the top of my head I’d rather Louis Munteanu.. even Calvert-Lewin has scored 4 in his last 4 games… or bring back Jovic who we never should have got rid of in the first place.. or I hear there’s some 17 year kid we’re letting rot on the bench down on the south coast…
Or Zirkzee – not the profile Allegri wants but at least his linkup play is better than all the above..
Allegri wants a physical box striker. Zirkzee does his best work outside of the box. He is also expensive on a high salary and ManUtd is looking for outright sale or at least obligation just like Hojlund. So not a stop gap option.
The 17 year old isn’t even good enough at Lecce.
I don’t know why would you bring up the Jovic name or saying that he should’ve been kept when he is more like Zirkzee with his style of play than what Allegri needs.
Louis Munteanu have scored 3 more goals than Fulkrug in a 1000 more minutes playedbthis season in the Romanian league and question is if he is actually a striker or a winger. I don’t know where you dig his name from?
How many goals did Calvert Lewin scored this season prior to scoring 4 in the last 4?
You listed a bunch of names with almost as poor scoring record as Fulkrug and they have all played significantly more games and minutes, on top of not being a fit to what Allegri needs.
You see, there are not that many better options in January. Teams don’t want to lose their better players mid season.
Sure but if media reports are to be believed then Utd. also seem hellbent on only loaning him out with an obligation or a straight sale and Roma is at least one team that seems much interested in him so either an obligation or a straight sale seems bound to happen. Let me ask you this couldn’t you accept this deal if we did in fact do sign Vlahovic in the summer ? I’m far from interested in Fullkrug but him and a Gimenez when he gets fit should do for 5 months in combination with Pulisic and Leao. If Fullkrug is a loan with a cheap option and he does great we could always get him and Vlahovic if Gimenez still can’t score before the end of the season and then ship the Mexican out of the club. If Gimenez does far better in the second half we can always send the German back while still getting Vlahovic. It doesn’t really sound too bad to me to be honest but it certainly also depends a lot on if we can get the Serb or Lewandowski.
This. Zee on a loan with an option will give us flexibility whether to buy him out or look at someone else. Füllkrug makes zero sense by any parameters.
But Utd. apparently isn’t interested in a loan with an option but only a straight sale or a loan with an obligation and besides of that if media reports are to be believed again they wont let him go until the final days of January Mercato as they will be without some players or something until then. Considering that Gimenez will be out for some time now make the Zirkzee deal even more improbable to happen.
@Martin – looks like it’s happening so I’ll be hoping he does well of course but I’m not holding my breath..
@MKD – We should’ve kept Jovic or Abraham and we might not be in this mess… I have a Romanian mate who recommends Munteanu so I’m not going to pretend I’ve seen him play much but he looks better than Fullkrug- which granted isn’t hard.. Lewin I agree – he’s garbage – but garbage that’s scored 4 goals in the last 4 goals is better than garbage that’s scored 0 if you ask me… Camarda’s season came off the rails after he missed that penalty – all I remember is him looking good when he came on for us at the back end of last season… You’re saying you’d rather Fullkrug than any of these options?
Im saying that you are too focused on how many goals they have scored instead of how they fit in what Milan needs.
They aren’t bringing those goals with them.
Milan last January signed a striker who scored a lot of goals in the first part of the season for Feyenord and how is he doing at Milan?
I’m also saying that neither one of them is a great option. They are all the same level, which was my point.
Looks like its happening ? Vlahovic in the summer, dont you have trust in such potential deal ?
I missed your implied comment about Camarda and sure I would much rather see him play in Milan than Fullkrug but at least he is getting some minutes there fairly regularly even if he isn’t a starter and banging in goals en masse. I think there is a chance he wont get many minutes with us if Pulisic, Leao and Gimenez are fit so then its even worse than him currently playing for Lecce. I also believe that there is more than playing many minutes at stake as that year with them and down there far away from his usual safe environment might help him develop a bit more to become more independent at a young age which could be beneficial in the long run.
Then there has also been people mentioning in other articles that Fullkrug will be very motivated to get into the German world cup squad and for that matter try to get a permanent move.
All these players Milan are mentioning…Gimenez e..is far better than all…
I see the name of Zirkzee thrown out here by many people in the comments. I always appreciated his game and I’ll always be in support of him putting on a Milan jersey, but, its funny that people criticize Milan interest in Fulkrug because he hasn’t scored a goal since April, while they are calling for Zirkzee to be signed instead even though he just scored his 1st goal in the EPL after almost a year without scoring. 😂😂😂
The difference between Zirkzee and Fulkrug is 1(one) goal, but i guess one of them is good the other isn’t.
Yep everyone knows he’s not a goal scorer – I’m thinking he knows Serie A already and if he can start doing what Nkunku’s supposed to be doing (a la Bologna) we’d be onto something…
You want to sign a player that scored just three times in 18 months? you guys are not serious
Jovic is more suitable for Allegriball.
When people say our management lacks expertise to manage a football club like Milan , I believe them to a considerable extent. Why in the world we allowed Jovic and Tammy to go without ensuring that we would get replacement for them ?
Yes, boneheaded decisions. Obviously they expected Gimenez to be the solution. I’m sure they’ll have learnt from their mistakes. Vlahovic AND Lewandowski in the summer would be perfect.
Không hiểu mua anh chàng này để làm gì…
I think he is not a bad option
Confirmed Gimenez will opt for surgery of his ankle. I think he won’t ever play for Milan again.
bring back Giroud or Benzema case solved
