AC Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani has travelled to Rome to meet with Igli Tare over the vacant sporting director position, a report claims.
According to the latest from Di Marzio, Furlani is in the capital to meet with Tare. The Rossoneri management are continuing to plan for the next one with the aim of not being caught unprepared, given how poor 2024-25 has been on the field.
After the Fabio Paratici idea fell through for a number of different reasons, the club have returned to negotiations with Tare, who worked for over 15 years at Lazio. A meeting was scheduled for this week between Furlani and the Albanian, who is currently free from any contract.
Tare has now risen to the top of the list of preferences to become the new director and it is likely that some key issues will be discussed during the summit. The advantage that the 51-year-old has over other profiles is that he is free to start work immediately, and time is of the essence.
Tare received praise for his work at Lazio under a difficult president in Claudio Lotito. He was part of an era in which six trophies were won, signing playings like Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Luis Alberto, Ciro Immobile and Mattia Zaccagni.
Stop talking, sign and start working. They wasted time on pursuing options I said from the start were not going to be possible to acquire. If fans know this, yet our management can’t figure it out, we have a serious problem. That is why he needs to get Tare in here ASAP to bring much needed stability, knowledge and decisiveness.
We lost our best players, years of revenue, competitive edge, with Furliani and Moncada failing to convince current, previous ownership as well, of Maldini/Massara’s advice when it came to retaining those players. Our former sporting managers had to fight Moncada, Furliani also fiercely confront ownership to acquire Bennacer, Tonali, Theo, Giroud and Ibra.
They were ready to keep Kessie and kept him because they were sure we would match his demands because financially, we could afford to do it if we qualified for the CL that season.
It was proven was the culprit in Furliani’s upper management’s ear offering poor advice. On the market over the last seasons, he is the one who took unnecessary gambles by pushing negotiations on too long and gave chances to other teams to acquire our targets that required very little more than we offered to seal the deal. He played F around and find out. We lost out on Thuram, Kessie, Hakan because he didnt want to free up the wage budge, which was feasible. He did that when they let go of Maldini, so he clearly waited to convince them to try and make a move to propel himself in his career.
We had everything few years back… Now??? Does anyone believe in Tare? Is there any logic which suggest he will do a good job, was there any logic for Fonseca, for Concicao. Lets admit it, people in charge do not know anything about running a club let alone Milan. Benter era has officially returned, this time it will get worse though.
Why should we hire a sporting director who was without a job for few years? If he was worthed someone would have hired him sofar. It’s like signing a player who was without club for few years, ffs
Because is cheaper if he is free. We don’t need to pay transfer fee.
