Christian Eriksen collapsed during Denmark’s clash against Finland last night, eventually in need of CPR as the medical staff acted quickly. Fortunately, the midfielder is now stable, but the incident sure was tough to witness.
For once in football, the game was secondary and the health of Eriksen was all the mattered. Thanks to the quick actions of his teammates, including Simon Kjaer, and the medical staff, his life was saved.
As Corriere Dello Sport put it on their front page this morning, it was a ‘Miracle at the Euros’. Tuttosport added ‘We are with you Chris!’. Gazzetta Dello Sport had a picture of Eriksen on the stretcher, with the text ‘We are waiting for you!’.
The latter newspaper also praised Kjaer for his quick initial actions and for consoling Eriksen’s wife in the tough situation. ‘He is a heroic friend. Keeps Christian alive and consoles his wife’, they wrote.
