Gian Piero Gasperini has emerged as a potential replacement for Sergio Conceicao, given both are likely to change clubs at the end of the season.
According to Calciomercato.com, Conceicao’s fate at Milan is sealed. His mission is to finish the season in Serie A in the best possible way and try to win the Coppa Italia but then the paths of the Portuguese coach and the Rossoneri will separate.

Then everything is up to the new sporting director, though the search for Conceicao’s replacement starts from the premise that they are Italian and have a winning past. Massimiliano Allegri is a concrete idea in the mind of Giorgio Furlani, though not the only one.
The casting for the new coach will unofficially begin only in May when the choice of the new director will be clearer. In the last few hours, rumours have also been circulating about Gasperini, as he plans to end his era at Atalanta at the end of the season.
Gasperini’s profile has always appealed to Igli Tare, who tried to bring him to the Lazio bench a few years ago. The Albanian director has a chance of taking over at Milan, so that would certainly add fuel to the fire.
However, Tony D’Amico seems to be the one that Furlani really wants to be sporting director, and he has spent a positive last two years with Gasperini at La Dea, culminating with the victory of the Europa League in 2023-24.
The two have an excellent relationship of mutual respect and trust. Thus, there are two candidates for one position and a coach that both like: this is why the speculation about Gasperini at Milan could become something more concrete.

Yes please make this happen
My only choice is Gasperini, get him for us and I will take Milan management serious
It doesn’t seem gasperini’s cycle at Atalanta is running to a close
Does*
He already declared that he is not going to continue with Atlanta next season
yes, serious choice
Anyone from below can reignite Milan
Conte, Saari or Gas
i dont get it like Sarri is the most overrated manager of all time like he did nothing why is he so glazed?
Arrigo Sacchi was a shoe salesman and became the one of the most successful managers in the history of our club. Look at what Pioli achieved with us as well, Sacchi has done a pretty decent job wherever he went.
Sacchi had the best players in the world. He has been unsuccessful ever else. With players like Breda, Maldini, Marco Van Basten, Ruud Gulitt, Frank Rijkaard, Donadoni etc you can win anything without having to do much as a coach.
Sacchi is overrated just like Sarri is overrated.
Sacchi bring all that players you mentioned bro… So he knows the talent and the mentality from his players.
Your use of the word glaze tells me you don’t know much about football do you.
Of course i know a lot about football but i think Sarri is so overrated like okay he won 1 serie A but he was not good at chelsea or Lazio and wow he won a seria with Ronaldo crazy messias was a guy who was delivering fridges to homes and he didnt become a great footballer
He did nothing? You’re one Google search away from being proven completely wrong. But I agree, he’s not the coach we need. We have a mentally fragile and weak team of snowflakes. No leadership and no character within.
Isn’t he the same coach that got into an argument with Atalanta best player Papu Gomez and won by selling him? That Atalanta cycle was over after that.
Isn’t this the same guy that publicly called out his best player Lookman, saying that he is the worst penalty taker ever? Season went down the drain after that moment.
Imagine his honesty and his strict way of coaching in a locker room full of cup cakes like Milan’s, especially the “superstars.”
Are you being sarcastic here or something as this is Gasperinis league rankings in Serie A since he took over the helms of the Bergamaschi team.
16/17 – 4
17/18 – 7
18/19 – 3
19/20 – 3
20/21 – 3
21/22 – 8
22/23 – 5
23/24 – 4
24/25 – 3
And currently 3rd and up until recently was in contention for the scudetto race. In the 36 years I’ve followed AC Milan and Serie A Atalanta has never been even remotely close to what they have achieved while he has been the coach for them, in fact its the most succesfull era of the club ever by margins and going by the history of Atalanta its an elevator team going up and down from Serie b and A. He has also done it while consistently losing his stars on an annual basis and also winning an European trophy on top of that.
So it was the end of the world that Gomez was let go of at age 33, oh well he later got banned for doping and ended his career in disgrace.
Whether Gasperini is the right choice can always be debated due to his high age but if players wont follow directions from the coach(es) ALL of them can leave if the right offer arrives as that is simply a sign of lack of unprofessionalism and those days where we pamper such behavior simply should be done with going forward.
My bad about the last “currently 3rd place” ranking one I must believe we live in 2026 😀
Thanks for providing facts to back up my comment that once Papu Gomez left, who was Atalanta best player and one of the best players in the league, that Atalanta cycle was over and they had to rebuild.
They were 3rd for years, papu leaves and they go to 8th. So what is your issue with what I said?
There is a big drop off this season after he made the comments about Lookman.
Gasperini doesn’t play nice with players and Milan current crop of players, especially those that delusional people call stars, don’t play nice with coaches that hold them accountable and demand effort. Remember what happened with Fonseca and Theo/Leao?
Gasperini was allowed to be a king and Atalanta. What he says goes. He will not be allowed to act like that in any other club. That’s why he only lasted a few weeks at inter.
No it wasn’t they didn’t win anything while Gomez played there so you are basically just making up stuff and even 5th, 8th places for Atalanta isn’t shabby results for a club of Atalantas stature. You do realize that its one of the Italian club who in the history who has gotten most promotions and relegation between Serie A and B that’s their normal level not playing for cl qualification.
As I said if players cant get in line they can freely leave in my view. Id rather have 11 work horses in the team than technical gifted players that wont put in an honest work for their salary but that’s my view of things.
The reason he didn’t last at Inter was that his results was bad there 1 draw and 4 losses is what got him sacked but that is also nearly 15 years ago.
Anyways as I said its always debateable whether he is the right choice but his tenure with Atalanta is highly impressive to this day.
They were 3rd for 3 years in a row during an era where Juventus was dominating.
Papu Gomez was their best player. Have they finished 3rd since? Check your stats.
He leaves, they go to 8th.
Now go check my first comment before you went into a totally separate direction and in the process proving what I wrote.
My bad completely missed that sold him “and won” afterwards. Fair enough then as he has done a great job for them. At this point I have no issues selling off some of our star players if it can help us become a better and more coherent team.
LOL full of cupcakes. Can’t say it better. Pioli can get decent level of those players because he’s more like a father figure. Plus the vital role of Maldini took part too.
We have a mentally fragile and weak team. No leadership and no character within.
We need someone who will pamper these snowflakes.
Time to let go of those who are too fragile because there simply should be no room for that at a club like AC Milan.
Pas mal comme choix
Just get him he’s the best coach around
Gasperini is the best in tactics in game plan everything he is the best
Most of all we need DS with a courage and experience in confronting irresponsible people from management about their stupid ideas.
That’s why taking one of Gasperini’s tools from Bergamo, who can be easly dominated and shouted by Furlani, Moncada and the rest of Gerry’s lackeys could only worsen current situation.
Why not to try Federico Guidi on his Milan primavera side to be our head coach ? He being Roma primavera campeon last year and bring us to copa Italia final this weekend. Just like capello ( Milan primavera ) or ancelotti ( reggina primavera ) at the past . But Milan should more patiently and need more time with the process.
This guy has proven,
Then way he won europa league, how he bought the club in the past 4 years, How he developed players. He dosent really want star players to win
Love and respect Gasperini. We could hardly do better than Gasperini and D’Amico on paper.
The difficulty is then recreating the environment at Atalanta which provided them with the room to do their thing.
D’Amico is relatively simple. Just let him do his thing and put the Milan ego away for a few years. With Milan’s status and as a club and its budge he can scale the principles up again (he’s already done it once from Hellas to Atalanta) and he’ll be fine.
The difficult part is Gasperini. With Gasperini you’re basically bringing in a Conte level ego. It’s his way or the highway.
It is not clear to me how compatible the likes of Leao and Pulisic are with Gaperini’s system. I’m also not sure how compatible Gasperini is with superstars / superstar adjacent players like Leao, Theo and Maignan.
You can’t half arse bringing in Gasperini, it won’t work. It has to be all or nothing. He is not a pragmatist like Allegri who will adapt to get the most out of what he has.
If we’re brining in Gasperini, Milan has to be prepared to sell its stars and start again. If we’re not prepared to do that, look for another coach.
Whether Milan should be starting again with a 67 year old coach, I am not so sure. The likelihood is that he’s just run his race at Atalanta, and that he’s still a great coach, but he may also have passed his use-by as a top level manager (which I believe he became).
He has set Atalanta up for failure this season. I don’t know that’s because he can’t see obvious things, such as Retegui and CDK not being able to play in the same team, or whether it’s a combination of loyalty and limitations in the squad created by injury.
Very pleased to hear this.
Its about the time to make this young team mature. Players like Theo and Leao must be polished to be a man, and also the others.
Hope this will be happen.
Yes get him quick can’t wait really manager he will turn us round.
