Tuttosport: Gazidis bids an emotional farewell to Milan and San Siro

There was an incredibly touching moment at San Siro before AC Milan’s game against Fiorentina on Sunday as fans thanked CEO Ivan Gazidis in his last game in charge.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes that Gazidis will no longer be the CEO of the club from 6 December as he has decided to leave after four years in the role, with Elliott Management advisor and Milan board member Giorgio Furlani taking over.

Before the teams entered the pitch for the pre-match warm-ups, president Paolo Scaroni spoke to the crowd: “I want to give a special greeting to Ivan, on his last day with us. I want him to feel your embrace for these four wonderful years spent together. Thank you for your commitment and your passion. See you soon in Milan but in the meantime we want to give you a big Milan hug. Thanks Ivan.”

During this speech, Gazidis entered the pitch and was greeted by the applause of the many fans present in the stands, and the former Arsenal executive appeared very moved by the reception, replying by beating his hand to his heart several times.

He arrived at the Rossoneri on 5 December 2018 so will leave after exactly four years, in which he has played a big part in restoring the accounts both by reducing costs and increasing revenues.

Behind the rebirth of the Diavolo in the last three years and the Scudetto won last season, there is certainly also the enormous work of Gazidis.
