Rather unsurprisingly, a number of AC Milan players have come under fire for their performances during last night’s 3-3 draw against Cagliari.
Milan twice led against Cagliari last night but were ultimately forced to settle for a 3-3 draw away from home after Zappa’s late equaliser. Rafael Leao scored a brace and Tammy Abraham restored the lead, yet it wasn’t enough for all three points amid another questionable defensive display.
La Gazzetta’s ratings
La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) have published their ratings this morning, starting with the team’s overall performance and Paulo Fonseca’s management of the game which both got a 5 out of 10.
The best player on the field for Milan was Rafael Leao who got a 7.5 thanks to his brace, continuing on from the Real Madrid game. Theo Hernandez really struggled from a defensive point of view and was given the lowest score, which was a 4.5.
The other players who struggled in the eyes of the paper were Strahinja Pavlovic and Youssouf Fofana, who got a 5. Emerson Royal, Malick Thiaw and Yunus Musah got half a point more.
The players who got a passing grade of 6 were Samuel Chukwueze, Christian Pulisic, Francesco Camarda and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Mike Maignan and Tijjani Reijnders were given a 6.5.
let’s back to reality. with this manager more progress is not possible. I know that players and coach want all the best for team, but sometimes you have to accept that in this shape/tactic/organisation of the pley they could not make more progress.
.
I think that Maurizio Sarri is only authentic personality who could make progress with all of these mercenaries.
Giving Fofana a 5 proves these people don’t know anything. One mistake (for which I blame Pavlovic more) shouldn’t take away how important he was for the rest of the game. He was by far our best player over the entire 90s minutes.
Jester.. one mistake that cost us points..
Pavlo was right in that situation
watch the last goal again, he ran up field for no reason when he had no chance to win the ball and walked back…if he had stayed home, Theo would not have had to cover for his man and Reijnders would not have had to come across near post and could have been there as well…he handed them the 2nd and was a big part of the 3rd. If Musah got caught out of position like that in extra time and give away a goal, people would lose their minds. Musah made some similar mistakes last year and is much more polished now…Fofana will get there but when playing defensive mid, all it takes is a couple bad mistakes. Just like scoring a goal hides a bad performance.
For example, against Monza he was caught too high up the pitch and out of position once and also not reacting to a header in the box which gave Maldini 2 sitters. Because he missed them, Fofana was given a solid grade for that game, but if they went in…Fofana would have gotten a 4…

you can’t blame pavlovic that was clearly a bad pass from fofana
@Federico. Pavlovic is at fault for that goal. There wa no need for him to step forward to challenge for that ball when he clearly saw that Fofana was attacking the play. He should have held his position but this guy so erratic that he doesn’t use common sense to read the play.
We could have gotten better defenders this summer like Kim Min Jae or Skrinniar who both have EXPERIENCE but this incompetent management choose Pavlovic who is by far the worse Center Back in the team.
That’s just miscommunication. I have less issues with that than the overall defensive system that failed.
And what about other situations? Pavlovic was lost half of the game.
Spending nearly 50 mil. on Emerson and Pavlovic, while gifting Kalulu to Juve, is literally historic. It will be talked about even decades from now.
Overall, these are the fairest player rating.
